I'm aware of that. Though his offensive capabilities sure are missed, I can look forward to having him back without thinking that his return is going to pull them out of the skid by itself. A large degree of the optimistic feeling of the early parts of the season was seeing what a player he was turning into.

And holy f*** did Olivier and Severson both play goal 2 terribly. Mainly Olivier. Go to the puck carrier, force him to make a play.
Goal 3, Sillinger. Forcing Sillinger into every f***ing role in the NHL. Can’t skate, see, or think the game good enough to be on the PK, or on the NHL in general. Evason just another shit coach? Waddell?? Sillinger is a stupid f***ing player bottom line. And quite unskilled. Seth Jones where are thou.

I fell asleep during the 1st.
The game played in my subconscious in Rimers voice, I specifically remember things going well early on, and now I’m up watching highlights and ranting.

Serious question. Same goes for anybody else who doesn’t ever have an issue with how Elvis acts ON ICE.
And I just see shit from the tv broadcast. I can only imagine what’s there to see in person at the rink.
I re-watched 2nd and 3rd period, and counted 1) all 5v5 controlled zone entries that lead to a scoring chance off the rush AND secondary chance(s), and 2) all 5v5 dump-in entries that created an OZ turnover. I didn't include rushes where player lost the puck right after blueline or that only created a single shot on goal and a stoppage of play.
They had about 44 of these type entry attempts in total, out of which 13 were "successful" by the above definition.
Monahan line: 3/11
Fantilli line: 2/14
Danforth line: 4/7
Kuraly line: 4/12
Total: 13/44
Maybe I'll do this again for another game if it continues to feel like we're bad at forechecking (or worse than we should be).

Im not saying hes Steve Mason but have you noticed how much guys are aiming glove high on elvis now?
They are banking on his angle being off (as pointed out by kings broadcast the other night)
And my biggest fear coming into this year with the "defense jumping in the offense" system we run... everybody has to be on the same page or its going to be a odd man rush each time.
Our guys are not on the same page, and odd man rushes are happening.... a lot.

Yeah ive learned my lesson about having confidence in this group.
Much like against Anaheim or San Jose.
this is the worst I've seen the blue jackets play this year, no structure, this game is on the coaching staff that was embarrassing, we never get scoring chances like the other team gets every goal we get is from grinding.
its easy to sit back here after the game and say what i would have done but I'm shocked Dean didn't call a time out after they scored two or even three quick ones

I just watched the DVD of the game. The continued breakdowns were incredible. The forwards were again not able to finish and not particularly good defensively and the defensemen were just plain not good defensively.
I’ve taken my share of shots at Severson while many here defend him, but what I still see is a a guy who can be a middle pair DMan…..for a bottom 5 team. I’m also left knowing Elvis can never be the solution. He plays well only when everything is going his way; when facing any adversity he folds.
