was in the 2nd or 3rd I think. I can't remember if it was after a PK or something of that sort but I just remember Jody going on and on about how Voronkov gets kicked out of the FO a lot with the language barrier

Yeah they've got some reasons why they don't want Voronkov at center, some good ones. But it's hard to argue with the trio's results. It might get Chinakhov and Voronkov both going and free up Fantilli to play with Jenner and KJ.

Someone got in Evason's ear. Wonder if the players themselves approached them or if the assistant coaches said something like hey this worked last year and we gotta try something different

I know he likes ZAR with Danforth but I'd like to see wassup if he swapped ZAR and JVR.
I was thinking if Jenner doesn't look like a fit with Fantilli-Johnson I wouldn't hate JVR there and then Danforth-Jenner-Olivier could be a physical grinding 3rd line option.

Both kind of achieve the same goal but that's the beauty of Voronkov back in the middle, the team actually has some options again

Excellent. The Siberian line might be a good way to get Chinakhov back in the game a bit. I like the idea of that second line too.

So that Rangers loss the other day got me thinking about targets in the off-season again. There's been a lot of talk about possible trades and UFA signings, but what about offer sheets? Some teams make poor trade partners and an offer sheet could then be an option. CBJ would have to trade to get their 2026 2nd back from Montréal, but that should be doable.

I am primarily thinking about Peterka in Buffalo, but Samberg in Winnipeg would also be an intriguing option in that scenario. K'André Miller might also be an alternative. Peterka and Samberg might actually be cases where the offer sheet would be worth it. Any other candidates?

Now, obviously, trading a 2025 1st plus more is preferable, but I wanted to highlight an option that Columbus' cap space affords them.

Now that we're getting closer and closer to the off-season, with each loss both the Jackets and the wild get I'm finding myself wanting us to keep both picks.

Having said that if the right guy is available definitely use those picks in a trade, but adding two more mid first rounders to the pool could be a nice boost a few years down the line, assuming we hit on them..

I thought about Peterka and Samberg as well. In Samberg's case it looks like the Jets would just match though, even if it was $8m+. I've seen commentary that suggests they know they might have the next Slavin type defender, and they'll prioritize keeping him. Peterka is probably a match for the Sabres too, but they might be stupid and let him go. Both of those players are very very good now, it's not like the Broberg and Holloway situation where the players hadn't broken out yet.

In general though, I don't think we're a team that should be thinking about doing offer sheets any time soon. We have several prized RFA age players and NONE of them are signed long term. We are very vulnerable to a GM that wants to screw us over. Later on though if we get our boys locked up I'll be on board the offer sheet train. They're not used often enough. The Blues did a masterful job with Broberg and Holloway.
