What do others think? Do any of these guys stand out to you as good CBJ targets?
the two guys who strike me as the best fits overall are weegar, lindholm and parayko, but the contract situations for those guys are… less than ideal. I think weegar's game will age just fine, though. he'd look awesome next to mateychuk.

otherwise, there are a lot of appealing names in your post, but I'm not sure how many of them would be meaningful upgrades (both on the ice and in terms of cap/cost) over provorov.

call it a gut feeling, but I think they're going to end up extending provorov. I don't think it'll be a long-term deal. he's young enough that it would make sense for him to take a high-AAV 2-3 year deal and then look to cash in again when the cap goes up.

the other part of this is that if they extend fabbro + provorov, it's a lot easier to find a shutdown LHD who can be a third pair guy + PK specialist. someone like ian cole would look great as a big PK guy who plays third pair minutes with either severson or gudbranson next year.

I'm in the camp that favors a strong defensive partner for Mateychuk on the second pair (rather than a true 1RD).

Unlikely to be available due to recently signing or extending with their current team: Adam Larsson, Mikey Anderson, Mackenzie Weegar, Shea Theodore, Erik Cernak, Matt Roy, Brett Pesce, Esa Lindell, Devon Toews.

Likely too expensive (either in UFA dollars or assets needed to acquire): Vladislav Gavrikov, Noah Dobson, Jonas Brodin.

Right shot options: Artem Zub, Brandon Carlo, Trevor Van Riemsdyk, Johnathan Kovacevic, Ryan Pulock, Braden Schneider, Jared Spurgeon, Michael Kesselring, Colton Parayko, John Marino, Jordan Spence, Zach Whitecloud.

Left shot options: Hampus Lindholm, Jake McCabe, Mattias Samuelsson, Jonas Siegenthaler, Adam Pelech, K'andre Miller, Dylan Samberg, Alex Vlasic, Brayden McNabb.

Most interesting to me are probably Zub, Carlo, Pulock, Parayko, Lindholm, Siegenthaler, Pelech and McNabb. As far as a second tier I'm also intrigued by Samuelsson (has had some injury issues), Kovacevic and Kesselring. I haven't watched them as much.

I'm not sure if Siegenthaler is that good or if he just fits the New Jersey system.
Too bad Spurgeon is 36 years old.

In lieu of any particular target (Although I like several thrown out here - particularly something about Carlo really intrigues me), I don't think we should undersell any options for GMDW. I think we have the prospect pool, the picks and even a potential young roster player (one we, as fans, would probably not be happy with moving) to make a significant move and not disrupt the true core. I still get the vibe that the focus is on the long term and any significant move is this off season. I still think they add and subtract at the deadline because I simply don't see a short term deal coming for Provorov.

I think Provo gets moved and a rental brought back in to stabilize the back end with playoff experience and someone that can play traditional 2nd or 3rd line minutes. I don't see Provorov coming back and as much as I've liked him and think he's a great piece for a playoff run, I just dont' see the team going deep and losing an asset like that for nothing at this stage. Maybe I'll be proven wrong and he'll sign a 3- year deal for big money. I just think the big move (and I think it could be very big) will be on the defense in the off season.

Hello! I apologize if this is not the best spot, but I’m wondering if someone can give me a quick synopsis on how Johnson has looked this season, and how do you project him in the coming years?

I assume you mean Kent Johnson and not Jack? Lol

He’s been very good. The start of the season he looked like he was starting to blossom into a top of the lineup player. Then he got hurt for a little bit, came back and didn’t skip a beat. But like all young players, he’s had periods of up and down play. For the most part he’s looked like a first liner.

I think at the very least KJ is a 2nd line creative winger who can make his linemates better. The more he has the puck, the better.

At the very most he could be a PPG first line winger who can be a difference maker. You probably won’t see him in discussions to be an MVP or win the Hart trophy, but could be the X factor forward you have to account for when playing Columbus.

Yes, that one lol!

Amazing, I appreciate the insight. That seems to be in line with everything else I’ve heard, but the perspective from a fan base, in my opinion is always the most valuable.

Did anyone else listen to BobbyMac's podcast Monday Mailbag today? He said Marchy is being fitted with a bubble facemark suggesting he might be trying to return and play much sooner than the 4-6 weeks initially projected.

While it would be awesome to have him back so soon I hope in no way he is risking any long term injury.
Was there any mention of what is going on with Chinakov injury?

Thanks
