Line Combos: CBJ Roster Discussion/Line Combos/Injury Report

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
We either need to make the move we were planning to make at the deadline or start to pack it in. Relying on a post trade deadline hot streak to overcome two of OTT, DET, TBL, BOS is poor asset management and hope rather than a plan. If we lose the next few I think you have to sell to set up the team to do well next year, especially as we can assume a regression for at least Werenski. The team has done an incredible job and still might make the playoffs but it lacks depth and at every position.

He has not looked good this year. He has a ton of potential and had a decent year last year. This year he’s looked slow and a few steps behind in terms of being proactive to a play rather than reactive and has had a hard time driving his line. I wouldn’t hate this move because he’s still somewhat younger and has a lot of upside as well is an elite passer but hopefully if we do he breaks out of whatever slump he’s been in all year

What do you do with a guy who appears to be washing out of his second org? He profiles right, and like you said is young yet, but geez.

I’d take Middlestadt as a cap dump. Aka, Colorado is attaching a pick to get rid of his full contract.

2 years at almost 6million left shouldn’t be too hard to work with. We have no cap issues and the deal expires at the same time the young kids are up, so he’s not holding anyone up.

I remember a year or so ago people were advocating trading Jenner for him. How the mighty have fallen

cozens possibly avaliable. man. I wish we could land him.
I don't expect it for one second, but I would consider a swap centred around Sillinger for Cozens. I don't know that Buffalo would have much interest in that, though. They'll probably look to trade Cozens as part of a package for an upgrade.

I would do that in an absolute heartbeat.

Committing to 7mm for 6 years for a guy whose stats are declining doesn't seem smart to me

I'd say it depends on what the reason for said declining stats are. And just to be clear: I don't pretend to know why his production has declined. I said I'd consider it, not that I'd definitely do it.

Jackets will be pushing hard to re sign Olivier and Fabbro during the 4 nations break

Very Smart, Olivier is the prototype of what an enforcer looks like in the new nhl (even factoring in his overperformance) and Fabbro has proven he has what it takes to hang with a star D-man and let him shine which is rarer than you might expect.
