Wasn't it already reported it was his back? Think CBJWerenski shared a tweet fairly recently where Portzline mentioned it
Yes, for ChinakovWasn't it already reported it was his back? Think CBJWerenski shared a tweet fairly recently where Portzline mentioned it
Get out of here with this jinx shit.Maybe only Werenski would have been a bigger hit
Wasn’t it rumored Bjorkstrand is available ?the injuries are pretty disheartening. schedule gets a bit easier here in the next few weeks. the next four games are against non-playoff teams, four nations break is included in there, etc.
doing a bit of forecasting:
in the meantime, i assume the pre-four nations games (the next three) will look something like:
- jenner – likely back between 2/22 (CHI) and 3/1 (DET)
- 3-6 more games missed
- marchenko – 6-8 weeks (between 3/9 vs NYR and 3/24 vs NYI)
- 6 weeks = 10 games missed
- 8 weeks = 17 games missed
- monahan – out until "mid march"
- likely another 15 games or so
- gudbranson – "end of march"
- 19 more games between now and 4/1
- fabbro – unknown (puckpedia lists 2/22 return)
- 3 games between now and 2/22
- chinakhov – unknown (puckpedia lists 2/22 return)
- 3 games between now and 2/22
voronkov - fantilli - johnsonjvr - sillinger - danforthzar - del bel - pyyhtia??? - kuraly - lebancwerenski - seversonmateychuk - provorovchristiansen - johnsonharris (if they run 11/7?)
of note: the official roster (which i believe reflects whatever Central Registry has) does list gavin brindley. i know he was on there earlier when he was injured but he's been in cleveland for 25 games now. wonder if they're going to announce a call-up shortly.
if they do, i assume we'll see something like:
voronkov - fantilli - johnsonjvr - sillinger - danforthzar - del bel - brindleypyyhtia - kuraly - [lebanc or 7D]i assume jenner will be either LW1 or LW2 upon return. could see him as the 2C but sillinger imo has done well enough to keep that spot and they are clearly weaker on the wings right now. wouldn't bet against dean going 11/7 again but i don't think they have the horses up front at this moment to support that. it's easier to go with that approach when you can double shift marchenko and monahan.
i have no problem with considering these guys as internal deadline acquisitions, and i don't think it's good business to make a panic move, but if i was in don waddell's chair i'd have a hard time not pushing to get a forward on the trade market very soon.
with all these injuries, they're going to have a hard time getting to the deadline without dropping a few spots – and that's if they're able to avoid even more injuries.
not sure if they'll be able to pull off a nelson/boeser trade on that timeline (both guys arguably fit better as UFA targets anyway) – to echo a lot of folks around here, i think a nyquist trade is, at present, the best path forward, especially with jenner set to rejoin the lineup soon.
They are going to need to find some players that can help the offense short term.i would hope front office makes a trade to show faith in our team, maybe Brandon Tanev, Sissons or Greenway would be some nice rentals.
greenway and voronkov would be nice to have
It was this but I was on the Coyotes boards mostly back in the 2012-2018 days. They dont have an app for these boards so I honestly forgot it existed for a couple years while I was playing college hockey myself and didn’t have time to really pay attentionNothing from the team other than it's not a concussion so maybe back?
You said in another thread you used to post here years ago, what was your screen name, if you don't mind me asking?
they're definitely lean on forwards right now but they don't lack toughness or clock killers.i would hope front office makes a trade to show faith in our team, maybe Brandon Tanev, Sissons or Greenway would be some nice rentals.

Z clearly got hurt last night but kept playing.Top3 players behind our suprisingly good season so far 1. Werenski 2. Marchenko 3. Monahan
Now only Z remains, unless he got injured too?
portzline wrote that he had to have his jaw reset last night and is still in dallas to see a specialist, so i wouldn't be surprised if it has to be wired shut for a little bit. even with a bubble, he won't be able to play through that.I wonder if Marchenko could come back after the 4 Nations break playing in a cage mask ?
I think it might be time to make a trade, we have a legit chance to make the post season but the injuries are killing us
yup slapshot to the jaw.Well that sucks. What's worse is I think it was Mateychuk who hit him.
boeser would be nice. wonder what it takes to get him, i just dont want to give up too much, since this year is just a bonus year for usthey're definitely lean on forwards right now but they don't lack toughness or clock killers.
the injuries have depleted the lineup of scoring forwards – that's who they should be targeting. i wouldn't go after a one-dimensional scoring forward, but the guys they've been linked to (boeser, nelson) are both very strong defensively. the board-speculated guys (nyquist, bjorkstrand) also fit the bill there.
i will also say, james van riemsdyk has been quietly excellent after a really slow start to the season, and that's despite minimal pp time / production (his usual niche). the goal should be to get another JVR type (profile/impact-wise, not stylistically) and i think nyquist is the best candidate for that.
switching gears a bit… shorter-term, the marchenko injury does open up another spot on PP1. fantilli's had some awesome looks in the bumper role lately, but shorter-term i think JVR gets a look on the top unit in that spot, and fantilli moves to one of the flanks.
