GDT: CBJ-OTT

Team needs more offensive depth obviously. Lose the rest of the season and take a forward with the first pick is the obvious takeaway.

Please at least don’t get shut out again… Show some capability, can’t be like “we were sad puppies for 50 minutes of game time because of goalie”

To be honest, I would be okay with that. The guys getting post season experience would be very valuable
Would certainly hopefully give them something to aspire to but don’t foresee us even being the one right outside the wildcard spot in the end. Have more spots to drop yet I fear

Kinda glad we did, because it’s insane there are some in this fanbase that still think we’re “league average” goaltending from being contenders.

Sixth shutout in the past 15 games. Boston and Utah are tied at 8th with six. In other words, we’ve been shut out more times in the past 15 games than 22 teams have for the entire season.

When did anyone use the word "contender"?

A bit of editorializing by me, to be sure. Definitely seen posts they would’ve made the playoffs though. I truly don’t think they would’ve. (With top-notch goaltending like prime Bob, sure, they would’ve in that case). This roster overachieved; it has some nice pieces and they/Evason did a great job for 5 months, but there are a lot of holes.

Your point is well taken
This team has played with heart the whole season
They need more talent across the board at every position

Up front we need a lot more experience and composure. We have guys that think "their game" is the one they played when things went easy. They get frustrated when they can't return to that easy game. There are lessons to learn here, I don't think its a question of talent up front.

Looking at Ottawa roster, damn, they’re stacked. It’s actually kinda surprising it took them almost 2/3 of the season to finally get into a play off position

They're built like an absolute wagon.

It's kind of like they're a more mature version of ourselves. Ottawa was loaded with talent the last couple years too, and they just sputtered down the stretch when they couldn't dipsy doodle anymore.

Didn't realize there was an early game.

I haven't watched many full games this season so I'm a bit hesitant to comment on lineup decisions but what is up with playing Gudbranson and Johnson over Severson and Christiansen??

Evason has done a stellar job overall but maybe we are starting to see some of the things that would've driven MIN fans crazy in the past? :D

I think we would have, but would have quickly been swept out of the first round. We're years away from contending for anything.

We’ll never know for sure, but I think we’ll likely finish ~7 points back, and that’s an awful big gap for one position to make up, even one as critical as goaltending.

Keep in mind even “league average” goaltenders don’t play league average every night. They have games they give up 4 or 5, too. Even the best do. The offense is too sporadic and the blue-line still not deep enough for me to say that if you put, I don’t know… “Sorokin” on this team, that they would’ve made the playoffs.

If you look at our scores in our recent rough stretch since the Stadium Series (which includes when Elvis really started playing poorly) it’s tough for me to find many/any when a league-average goalie would’ve won a game that we lost. I don’t see any 5-4, 6-4, 6-5 type of losses. Perhaps the 5-3 NJ loss, but that’s basically it.

ETA: Sorokin at his level of play this year, to clarify.

bummed. my girlfriend bought us glass seats for my birthday this thursday. was hoping we’d be in playoff contention. this absolutely sucks.
