pretty much looks like they've given up. The JJ-Gudbranson pair is an adventure.

Evason suddenly being ok swapping goalies feels strange

Only Werenski, Fabbro, and Mateychuk can stay next year. Besides that every defenseman has to go. I think Severson is fine for a third pair but you can't keep him if our coach prefers Johnson-Gudbranson somehow. If that's the decision the coach makes then you have to eliminate the decision entirely.

Maybe Evason is trying to send a message to management? I'm kind of at a loss.

Evason really, really does not like Severson.

Sometimes coaches can put a ton of misplaced faith in veterans. If young players were -2 in 2 shifts they would take action, but with older players they overlook it.

But it's a really really bad pairing, I'm wondering if this is a play to piss off Severson so much that he will waive his NTC. JJ - Gudbranson is that bad that I'm reaching for theories here.
