I've proposed some changes to the state highway system in the Columbus area.

The freeway portion of route 315, which serves OSU, gets re-designated as Interstate 171.

US Route 23 joins I-270 EB at exit 52 and leaves at exit 23.

US Route 33 joins I-270 SB at exit 17 and leaves at exit 46.

US Route 40 joins I-270 SB at exit 7 and leaves at exit 41.

US Route 62 and State Route 3 join I-71 NB at exit 94, then I-270 EB at I-71 exit 101/I-270 exit 55. Route 62 leaves I-270 at exit 35, while route 3 leaves at exit 23.

State Route 745 is extended southward, following former Route 33 to the intersection with Grandview Avenue, which it follows southward until McKinley Avenue, which it follows eastward until Central Avenue, which it follows southward until ending at Broad Street (former Route 40).

A new Business Loop 71 is designated, running northward from exit 94 along Harrisburg Pike (former Routes 62/3) until reaching Broad Street, by which point it has become Central Avenue, then runs east along Broad Street to the intersection with Cleveland Avenue, which it follows northward until reaching 5th Avenue, following it eastward to end at I-71 exit 110A.

Spur US 33 is designated along a portion of former US 33 between I-70 and I-270 in southeastern Franklin County,

The purpose of the re-routings along I-270 is to both eliminate confusion arising from some of the affected routes running on one-way streets in downtown Columbus as well as to redirect through traffic on these routes around Columbus.

I'm confused by not knowing what problem this is solving. You clearly have an answer to something. I just don't know what the question is. I don't know anyone (or any map app) that will take any of those routes all the way through Columbus on purpose

I have a propsal too: I-270 should not be designated as North, South, East and West because if you drive far enough around the beltway without exiting, North will eventually become South, East will become West, etc. I-270 should simply be designated as Clockwise and Counter-Clockwise. Of course the problem is anyone under the age of 30 has probably never learned to read an analog clock and has no idea what clockwise and counter-clockwise mean.

Sorta like "Browns are going left to right on your radio dial"

Not only do they not understand clockwise and counterclockwise, they don’t look at maps. They might not even realize we have a circular highway going around the city.
