Great start of his Columbus stint. It's a long season so too early to say anything definitive about the contract/terms, but it looks bright right now. I think Evason is the key to the success at this point. the team in general is player very well and he's a great fit for what they needed. I truly hope the contact works out how we in Columbus hoped it would. It could be a steal if he's able to maintain this type of play. I would be more than happy with a 60-70pt guy on that deal. PPG? Sign me up!

Most of all, Monahan is a great vet to show the way to young players. Above on ice play, I think that is what they cared about.

He's been just what the doctor ordered. Consistent veteran presence on the top line. Makes other players better. Gives us legitimacy. I get he can get hurt but I don't understand the hate for this contract. Could see him aging into a good 2nd and 3rd line center too.

The bulk of the "hate" had to do with skepticism that he could replicate the performance he'd shown in Montreal and Winnipeg last year. He's presently exceeding it.

If Halloween was in April, Sean's costume would be 'The Invisible Man'.

Good to see him doing well. He was much better than advertised with the Habs too and seems like a really likeable guy who has been able to recover from some serious on ice struggles (not even trying to analyze what impact the whole Gaudreau incident has had).

Some crazy hot takes in here.

Obviously it's still early in the contract, but if he stays healthy and can continue this level of play for a few years it's easily worth it.

33 pts in 36 games, averaging 19 minutes a game and is a +15 on the season.

His line is also one of the best in the entire league 5 on 5 and is top 5 in the league in face-off wins.

He’s always been a very solid player, he just absolutely derailed himself in Calgary by playing through injuries. It’s on the staff in Calgary at the time to some degree for letting it get so out of hand. Then Treliving for some absolutely inept cap management before jumping off the train he lit on fire.

Anyone who had followed his career closely wasn’t surprised by what he did in Montreal and Winnipeg. A segment of Flames fans tried to downplay him once Lindholm arrived, but Monahan was always just as good a player, when healthy.

Monahab was great , truly appreciated him and he's had a lasting impact on our youth.
He will be remembered fondly by Habs fans! (The reasonable ones at least).

The story of him signing in CBJ to play with his bff gave me genuine tears with the outcome.

I'm glad he's producing despite the adversity.

As a Habs fan, I was rooting for us to sign him in the summer. I'm glad we traded him at the TDL and used the 1st to get Hage. But I really wanted him back in the summer. Happy for him he's doing well. When you get top talent like that, better to not let it go if it isn't asking to break the bank. His cap hit will be fine for what he brings given the cap will be rising over the next 5 years.

He's an easy player to cheer for. Good for him and Columbus!

That's a massive "if", though. I don't think his level of play is in question, but his ability to stay healthy long-term, is very much in question. He could end up playing through severe injuries and being ineffective (like in Calgary) or just get hurt and miss a huge chunk of games (like his first year in Montreal).
