He was signed on a two-way deal and was more than likely going to be in Cleveland all along, but, well, y'know, our forward situation.

Gambrell is fine as AHL depth and waiver fodder for teams needing a 14th forward. He's probably just about at the point where he has to settle for AHL contracts, though (he is 28), so he has maybe 2-3 years left before he calls it quits.
