I'm willing to bet that Tortorella had a say in this trade. The Canucks picked Stanton up off of waivers prior to the beginning of Tortorella's only season here. And he looked very serviceable as a third pairing defenceman. He's probably capable of being a solid 6/7 on a fair chunk of teams in the league. I'd take him over Sbisa.

Goloubef was a guy I wanted the Sabres to draft but he has not been able to adapt to the pro game
