What’s the deal with him? I remember him being good in London, is his game not translating or is it more so a matter of too many D in CBJ ?

He can’t stay healthy.

One time this season he was hit with a puck in the face while on the bench. Other than that he was ouchy every 10 or so games. When he was in he was good but couldn’t stay healthy.

Minnesota could use him as a PP specialist and Buium placeholder. Put him with Brodin and let him do his thing

Capfriendly shows his contract has having been bought out already.

Cap penalty of $66,666 this coming season and cap credit of $533,334 the next year.

You have this reversed. It is a $66K cap credit for 24/25 and a cap penalty of $533 in 25/26.

His buyout money is under $1.1 mill but the Jackets $600K more in cap charges based on salary paid, so they get that back, thus which drops his Total dead cap to under $500K.

Cap charge wa $2.6 mil and cash of $3.2 mill. Retention would have him at $1.3 mill and $1.6 mill in real money.

Figure all clubs try to see if they can move a player, ala Win with Schmidt and Atkinson in Phi as well. But, they opted to go the buyout route. Some make perfect sense.

He was always kind of an odd player. Good at finding seams and a nice shot but that was always going to be a tough sell at the NHL level. Never should have gone that high, especially with his history of concussions.
