Not that it changes your estimate on time but the Devils play in Newark, not Trenton.

I know you hate the idea, but one benefit to future road trips is that while the initial drive may be longer, you can extend the trip to watch 2 or 3 away games. DC/Philly/NY for instance.

I totally agree. Look at the travel between those cities if the CBJ's go on a 4 game road trip! That should help us compete most nights.

I don't understand the complaints with the "well there will be other teams that are better that won't make the playoffs over teams with fewer points!"

It's like that now. The year we made the play offs there were teams in the east that had more points than we did. On the other side, there have been years where we were all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs in the west, while our point totals would have been only 2-3 points out in the east.

There will always be a few teams that really dominate in a season, and a few times that (sometimes unexpectedly) really go belly up. I don't see why two extra teams is such a big deal. You might, right at the cut-off line, have a few teams that might have made the playoffs in a different conference, but that's how it's been for a while now.

The only thing I can see evening this out, is if the "wildcards" can cross-over between conferences. The travel might be heavier, but since those two teams only play each other (for any given round) in the playoffs, and both have to do the traveling, there's really not a disadvantage for either team within the parameters of that round. Plus it further rewards the teams that end up at the top.

In the conference that makes sense. Yay. I still wish it were Buffalo instead of the Rangers but beggers can't be choosers.

I do think this is great news. I wonder if in two years we could see a true "Atlantic" division take shape. Seems like FL, TB, WAS, CAR, NYI, NYR, NJD, PHI would make a more representative Atlantic division. That would put CBJ with DET, PIT, MON, OTT, MON, BUF, BOS. (Boston and Philly left for rivalry reasons).

Either way, this is really a positive step. Now let's have the NYR and LAK miss the playoffs and one of them win the lottery. :) Hello MacKinnon AND Jones! Dreams do come true you know!

Growing up an Islanders fan this is going to be great. I can follow them again and HATE on the Rangers. Now if we can build a long term winner that would be amazing hockey to see.

Let's go Jackets!

Nash saying "hope they don't trade Mase or let him walk" Dubi, AA, et al are saying "watch out Torts we're gonna kick your a**"

It will be interesting to watch to see if the Jackets play Eastern style or if they try to impose the Western style on them.

time for those "PenJacket" fans to **** or get off the pot...pick a team ;)

Not the best Idea, we might lose alot of people. I grew up in Indiana and loved the Mario and the Pens in the early 90's. I became a jacket fan when they drafted Rick Nash and because I could actually go to games. (I recently moved to Ohio for law school and so have gotten to more games in the last few years.) I bet that this is a fairly common story for Jacket fans.

Just remember, the CBJ record against the east has historically been very, very good. Twisted Sister will be the new intro band.... "We're not gonna take it!"
