Urban Meyer to recruits: come play "in a large city that really has no professional sports team"

Another reason to hate The ****ing Ohio state university.

It's funny. In the last couple of years, I've seen a noticeable softening of the stances both the CBJ and OSU have toward each other. And then Urban Doofus starts talking...

Crew ramping up efforts to attract hipster demographic by injecting the..."vocals" of a porno into their game broadcast?

So meta. Will the ACA even come to Jackets games anymore given this brilliant marketing? :sarcasm:

To be fair, Columbus really doesn't have a NCAA football power either; unless 2 national championships (one tainted) in 50 years & consistently choking in big games counts as being a power............

I've been an OSU fan all my life, but Meyer's statement (and the self-entitled attitude of most Buck fans) has gradually eroded my fan loyalty to OSU.

OSU = college sports; nice diversion

Jackets, Crew = BIG BOY SPORTS

To be fair to Urban, he always struck me as a guy that has "tunnel vision" when it comes to his career. The health scare that made him decide to shut it down at Florida, coupled with the much publicized "contract" he signed involving his family life taking precedent, I honestLy think this guy truly does get in his car to come to work, takes the same route everyday there, and doesn't notice much of the rest of columbus, if at all. It is a great trait to have in a head coach at a university and city that's crazy for it, to know he probably takes the losses much harder than the fans and that it's basically eat, sleep buckeye football for him

Meyer issued an apology, saying that he strongly supports the Crew and CBJ and that he only meant that Columbus has no NFL football.

March madness is fun....

Big game Friday night, Louisville vs Kentucky… it starts around 9:30 pm.. Prior to moving down to Kentucky several years ago I had no clue how much fun a NCAA basketball rivalry could be… Some are saying this game is one of the biggest Sweet 16 games in decades….

Ralph Wilson, the only owner of the Buffalo Bills has died.... He was 96 and a long time native of Detroit Michigan...

He was one of 8 owners who started the American Football League in 1959.... a rebel football league at the time that changed the NFL forever...

A Hall of Fame owner.

Heard this yesterday, Robert, but thank you for the reminder. Those original AFL owners called themselves the Foolish Club.

What is the Crew? Is it a team that plays in that big stadium I drive past on my way to CBJ games? I can't find them on TV anywhere so I wonder what they do. :sarcasm:

I can tell you what they don't do, and that's finish any road work in a timely fashion. Am I right central Ohio?!?

And what's the deal with airline food?

Thanks, Pete. I love these Jackets but I'm an Ohio State alum and fan of the football team, too, and I like Meyer. Appreciate you following this up.

Gotta say, as a Browns fan I am in spite of myself becoming more and more intrigued with Manziel if he's there. Another Broadway Joe?

Lucas Oil tickets in Indy for UK/Loualville tomorrow are selling for $1800-$5000 according to LEX 18 TV.... unreal..

I wouldn't pay $10 bucks to watch the Cheater vs. Philanderer. Calipari and Pitino are probably two of the most arrogant personalities ever. That said, I need Louisville to win to get into the money on my bracket. I'll keep an eye on the score, but I won't watch. JACKETS TIME takes precedence.

For the record, the CBJ game will be over... the UK/L NCAA game starts around 9:45pm...

Goodbye LaQuinton Ross, another guy who Matta stifled. I believe Matta, like Dean Smith, could have held MJ to below 20 a game.

That's a strange accusation, considering the big scorers he's fostered - Turner, Sullinger, Thomas, etc. I don't think Ross even belongs in a conversation with those guys, though.

That's cause Matta stifled him

I guess I just get frustrated with Matta because I don't see him play guys like Ross a lot early in their career's and go all out for the athletic guys like Lenzelle Smith Jr. & Sam Thompson. When afforded playing time I think Ross produced and could have been a lot better.

I agree, he could have been a lot better, but I blame him, not Matta. The biggest difference I see between Thad and his immediate predecessors is that players improve through the course of their careers. If they work at it.

As for guys playing early, he wouldn't have so many early departures if he waited to play them. I don't know how good a coach he is, but I don't think Ross is a good example by which he should be judged.

Mmm. Fell asleep around 10:30 so I couldn't catch the Crew game, but I did wake up to a sweet, sweet sound in the air... the dulcet tones of tortured Seattle SilverSpoons fan sobs. Nothing better in the world! :D

"Hate"? Hate is such a... mild word. Try "the sole and exclusive example of a scenario in which I would feel no empathy to the fanbase if their team abruptly ceased to exist, because **** them and their entitled bull****."
