I’ll keep rooting for them. Said before the season the that there is a chance the team can be a lot better than expected as they bond together over the horrible loss they all experienced. They’re all playing for Johnny and Matthew which is a powerful source of inspiration.

I'm quite sure this thread will do quite a lot to help mitigate that whole problem of "grief from other fans" you're talking about. Particularly after the jinx sets in.

I'm happy with how they're doing too, but we don't need to keep making multiple mains threads about the team and players like we're the Leafs or something.
That's a weird way to spell Habs.

Sorry haven't kept up with all the rumors, if any, but if they stay in the hunt do Jacket fans think they'll trade off Provorov or keep him for a playoff run?

There are probably 5 teams in Atlantic and 5 in Metropolitan who should not make the playoffs, but someone has to....

The real question for the Jackets is what the return of Chinakov (top 6 forward) does for the team and if we get other reinforcements (jenner, Gudbranson). Our biggest weaknesses are depth scoring and D, if those two internal additions can meaningfully elevate the team then it seems possible the jackets lean in to the competition in a real way rather than staying the course and selling high on Proverov. The Jackets will push as much as they can, but if they aren't in the lead going into the trade deadline I still expect them to sell or make some version of a "hockey trade" where then ship out Proverov as a 1st is just to valuable to turn down most likely.

They certainly can score goals. They have a lot of young talent that can put the puck in the net. Blue jacket fans should be excited. Damn shame they lost Johnny hockey. Imagine this team with him?

What system are they playing the way they split the Ozone is incredible.

Big fan of the Marchenko-Monahan-Voronkov line

Always enjoyed watching teams coached by Evason, I think he is a great coach, and his teams always put a fight in any hockey match.

That line with Werenski is straight up carrying them to many victories. When that line plus the Werenski-Fabbro pair are on the ice there is so much movement all over the zone it definitely creates chaos for the defense.

Team just needs to get healthy and find some more bodies to work with Johnson and Fantilli down the lineup for more secondary scoring

I’d love to see the Blue Jackets make the playoffs and go on a run this year, particularly in light of the Gaudreau tragedy. They have a great fan base that deserves to see the team have some success.

Would be interesting to see them do something for a change, like go on a run to the Final. The east has 4 or 5 good teams this year, the rest is a bunch of mediocre teams fighting each other.

Not sure if CBJ fans will welcome this post, but will share my opinion anyway:
I used to hate the Blue Jackets. I have no affinity for the Midwest, and I saw CBJ as a nuisance team where
  • dirty, unlikable goons got minutes
  • likable, high skill players were sent against their will
  • they weren't good enough to win, so the goal was to obstruct and pest good teams (e.g., Pittsburgh)
Still remember how the 2015-16 Pens had to deal with Foligno, Dubinsky, Hartnell, Prout, Calvert, etc. under the tutelage of Tortorella. And I thought it was funny how they let Zito go, and he took Duclair, Wennberg, and others to be rejuvanted with him.

But this has turned on it's head. I'm glad they had the stones to sack Jarmo and Babcock, Evason is a cool HC, and I love the playstyle and attitudes of so many of their players. Fantilli and Werenski are great. I love to watch Johnson, and I'm rooting for Marchenko and Fabbro to make names for themselves. Glad to see that guys who can't put their money where their mouths are (Laine, DuBois) are struggling while a guy like Provorov (whose been crapped on for dumb reasons) has been resurgent.

And CBJ fans seem pretty level-headed and realistic. We don't hear any delusional tire pumping about break out players. There was no defensive hackery when other fans were blunt about the franchise's disastrous state. And that makes their unexpected success great to see.

This is a team with big aura potential. Looking forward to seeing that arena go nuts for the 2025-26 playoffs.

Happy for my expansion brothers. After what they went through in the off season, and last year, this year has to be a welcome change. The main thing seems to be that they have competent management now, and the players have bought in, despite missing a lot of talent.

Nice jinx thread, btw.
