Yes it's only January and yes they just got into the wild card spot tonight and yes they will probably not stay there...but can we show some love and appreciation for the Blue Jackets performance this year?

Coming off of ANOTHER bad season, firing a coach after one season who was only hired because of the Babcock disaster, firing Jarmo, Jiricek wanting out, Laine talking trash about the org and fans and of course the devastating Johnny and Matty event. Just from a purely hockey standpoint, losing Johnny is crushing for a team. Losing your point leader is a huge blow for any team.

Here is my take of what had gotten them to this point.
Evason has been a welcome change at HC
Werenski is having a Norris level year
Marchenko seems to be the real deal and has a wicked shot
Voronkov is a beast in front of the net
KJohnson is growing into a premier player
Monahan is back to being a 1C
For a 4th liner, Olivier is having a great year offensively and has made a name for himself after dominating Rempe and a few other fighters

I think this team is a good goalie away from being a serious threat.

How is this team even ahead of Chicago, much less in the playoffs today? I for one want to applaud my team, especially given all of the grief they get from media and other fans. You can make all the jokes you want and I know you will, but I am going to enjoy this however long it lasts, even if it's just tonight.

I'm quite sure this thread will do quite a lot to help mitigate that whole problem of "grief from other fans" you're talking about. Particularly after the jinx sets in.

I'm happy with how they're doing too, but we don't need to keep making multiple mains threads about the team and players like we're the Leafs or something.
Jackets fans are far from being overconfident. Being in a playoff spot for a day or two will probably be the highlight of the season.

I think Tampa has enough pedigree to make it, but all I see is a bunch of underwhelming teams and washed teams in the mix
It's looking like another slap fight for the last spots in the east again this year, just with more teams in the mix this time. Kinda weird that the team who benefited the most from the slap fight last year is looking like a participant this year.

Have to think a handful of these teams will start to sell a month from now regardless, though.

Figured they'd be at the bottom after the events in the summer.

Good for the team to rally together like this and give themselves a real shot at the playoffs.
