Proposal: CBJ and VAN swap

with rumors of Demko wanting out thought this would be a nice trade

Thatcher Demko ( 5m ) For Cole Sillinger ( 2.25m) Elvis Merzlikins ( 5.4m ) Jordan Dumais ( Grade b prosect ) 2nd round pick

Markstorm and Ullmark didn't really get much of a haul so i figured this could work ?
Vast overpay for an another goalie with question marks.

Keep Elvis, or move him elsewhere. We'd have no use for him, as if we move Demko, we have Lank we'd want to resign.

Demko looks broken right now. Obviously the Canucks would keep him if they thought he was going to fully recover, so why would the Jackets trade assets for him?

Elvis is playing much better lately so it doesn't make sense as a swap of distressed assets.

demko is risky to take right now as hes having trouble adjusting since his injury. most likely mental/lack of work load to get him back to his regular stance.
he wouldnt be traded at full value, but still probably pulls a decent prospect/pick. if its pick related id assume there are conditions based on his play next year.
canucks should definitely be looking to trade him though

CBJ brass loves sillinger but I have a feeling he'll get traded in the next year or so as they try to accelerate things.

would absolutely love Demko in Columbus too.

don't think sillinger would be included and also don't think vancouver would have much interest in Elvis coming back, but would definitely do something like Dumais + Tarasov + a pick to take Demko.

Demko may be all but done. He hasn't had a healthy season ...ever. he's only managed to dress for 12 games this year (3-5-3) with a 3.47 gaa and .867 save percentage. No team should be hanging their cup aspirations on a guy who looks like he can't carry the mail anymore

Would Ceulemans be on the table for Demko? He's not doing that well statistically this year but the draft pedigree and right shot would still be appealing.

absolutely would, but to be fair he's not really much of a prospect at this point. seems to be doing okay in cleveland and definitely has tools.

Easy Pass for CBJ. Too expensive of a gamble. Maybe if Demko was a more consistent goalie year to year and had more starts this year... but, IMO he's looking more like a career backup and less like a starter CBJ needs.

With the assets and cap space CBJ has, no reason to trade for gambles like this.

Hell no on taking back Merzlikins, rest of the trade is solid though
I get it, but for the record, he hasn't been the issue this year. He's been much improved, especially of late (last 10 games, 0.907%, 2.56 GAA and 8-2). He's always been said to have 1G skills but an ECHL head. He's more composed and consistent, with fewer bad goals. Again, I get why someone wouldn't want him in a trade, but I think CBJ may not be so quick to move him right now and actually look for a better 1B than what Tarasov has been. I don't think Demko is that guy. As noted, a risk in his own right.

Elvis was told by HCDE to focus on being a better teammate and I feel that's helped his resurgence
