Reports suggest Jackets might be looking to select a goalie from this year's class. They have two firsts, #14 and #20, but zero 2nd round picks. None of the goalie prospects sound good enough to be drafted in top-20, which is why it might be smarter for CBJ to trade down and obtain one of those with a slightly later pick.

NSH, SJ, CHI, PHI and WSH for example have at least two picks in the 21-50 range. Would some of them be interested to move up to #20? I guess a late 1st + 2026 2nd could also work if the other team only has one pick in that range.

Toronto 25th and Dallas 62 or Islanders/Toronto 2nd 2026 for 20th.

Think Flyers would also do this, or they may give offer both late 1sts and an early 2nd or something for your 14th if that's an option for CBJ also to draft a Carter Bear type.

That's an idea Caps fans have liked, if there is some guy from that second tier of draft eligibles available around there that wouldn't be available at 27.
(Caps have 27 and 37. The Puckpedia "Perri Pick Value Calculator" seems to think that would be lopsided for the Jackets, so they'd need to send something back to balance it. According to their thingie, Columbus' 3rd isn't enough. Grain of salt, here.)

I don't like moving back. With all CBJ's top (quality) prospects now in the NHL, they need to start building the next core that will step in over the next 3 to 4 years. Trading back might make sense early in round 1 and getting extra picks in round 1, but most picks beyond the first round are a Longshot at best. Getting extra picks so you can take guys the majority of teams have already passed on, is probably not a good way of finding quality.
