CBC gets first pick right?

I was just thinking that if the Sens win tonight, CBC might have quite the predicament.

They get first pick in terms of playoff series to broadcast, but how do they choose? On the one hand you have an all Canadian match up between the Habs and Sens, but on the other hand you have the 2 teams they all but cheer for on a nightly basis.

How can the national Canadian network justify not picking the series that has 2 Canadian teams playing? I'm hoping the Sens win just to see how the CBC handles this situation.

They pick Toronto and Vancouver.

I believe they pick 1, 2 and 5th.

They have the first and second pick.

If Ottawa wins tonight, they can have Toronto/Boston AND Montreal/Ottawa.

They're probably going for Vancouver in order to get a double header in that case. Besides, if they don't pick Vancouver, which game will they broadcast at 10?

Pretty sure they'll have Toronto and Montreal on separate days. No?

I think they'll take Ottawa-Montreal, Toronto-Boston. They can pick a west coast game in the fourth slot. I guess TSN is getting Pitt or Vancouver, so good for them.

TSN would scoop that series up in a second. They'd be the only network to cater to western Canada. Won't go over too well out west if that happens.

They won't do that. They'll alienate the west for sure. Canucks are a guaranteed pick. TSN will take Sens-Habs, and then expect CBC to take Crosby's Pens with the 4th pick.

If its mtl v Ott than the CBC HAS to take that series. No way they can justify not taking 2 Canadian cities against each other and then they'll have to take Vancouver for the night games.

They get 1st, 2nd AND 4th? That seems kind of insane.

They'd take Leafs-Bruins
then Canucks-Sharks

TSN would then take the Habs-Sens

CBC would probably take Pittsburgh/whoever in 4th.

As if they wouldn't (if the situation arises) pick Toronto-Boston.

They have to. Meanwhile they would send us updates on Kalrsson's latest swoosh of his lovely locks.

That's if they were restricted to the first pick and not the second as well. But yeah, Van makes sense as second.

No cbc gets one and two. Tsn gets3 and 4. Then cbc then tsn then cbc then tsn. So I see cbc taking Toronto 100%. Then Vancouver. Then tsn will take Montreal/sens and Pittsburgh. Cbc will then take rags and craps. Tsn will take Detroit Anaheim. Cbc will take Chicago minny. Then tsn la stl

I guess we'll fund out soon enough. Don't see how they'd not show 2 Canadian cities over toronto and Boston though. Considering montreal gets ratings that are the same or better than the Leafs and they'd be playing another Canadian team for the first time, it seems like me that it would be the Canadian battle.

Boston usually trounces the Leafs and would likely be a short series. Whereas Montreal and Ottawa would likely be a longer series.

If it is tdot v bos and CBC takes that series, then it's a pure homer play.

If it turns out to be Toronto/Boston it will work out pretty close to this

CBC) Boston/Toronto
CBC) Vancouver/San Jose
TSN) Montreal/Ottawa
CBC) Pittsburgh/Islanders
TSN) Washington/Rangers
CBC) Anaheim/Detroit
TSN) Chicago/Minnesota
TSN) St. Louis/LA

I pray MTL doesn't play Toronto for the simple reason I cannot take Jim Hughson doing an entire MTL series.

It's GAL-CHEN-YUK not GAL-CHENNY-YUK, my goodness it has to be the most annoying thing in the world.

I remember all the great reviews on Hughson when he was hired by the CBC. He's simply terrible imo. I'd take a 100 yr old Bob Cole any day.
