Goalies don't get their worth in trades, no reason to trade him yet until we figure out exactly what he is and even then, having him until the end of his elc is wise.

2) There is no reason for Montreal to move Primeau in a deal for a young top-4 LD.

That's a way of saying he won't trade him. Our only good G is 31, we need someone for the future.

He's not going anywhere. He spends this year, and maybe next, in Laval. Then he comes up and platoons and learns from Price.

I think Montreal holds onto Primeau. I think he'll be their backup within the next 2-3 years.

Mete, Romanov, Harris, Struble, Norlinder... if only fans would be patient and wait 1 or 2 years. I'm happier with Primeau + that LD depth for 10 years than Price + (the kind of LD Primeau would return in a trade) for 2-4 years.

The only time a goalie prospect might fetch much in a trade is if they were a high end 1st round pick whose done well since their draft.

To me - Primeau is worthless until he makes it to the NHL and shows what he's got.

And by the sounds of it - he's going to be very, very good. His trade value 1-2 years after his NHL debut vs what it is now will be a huge gap. It would be stupid to trade him.

I’m not sure I see the value in that. We have a good stable of young goalies coming up, I wouldn’t deal either guy for another one.

ridiculous thread that will end in a flame war. bergevin has already said he's received trade offers and isn't moving him. he's already a top 3 goalie in the AHL and, scout simon boisvert called him one of the best goalie prospects in the last 15 years. Habs will get lowballed because of how goalies are perceived. he's not being moved. he's price's heir apparent within 3 years

Primeau is not just some average goalie prospect though! It’s early yet but he’s been elite level at every step along his development path!

If you had him in your system, you would not trade him very easily! Look at what he has done as a 20 year old and how he looks against Lindgren who is a decent and mature goalie prospect in Laval

I'm not a fan of Bergevin but if Primeau is not for sale, what do you say? Something completely absurd, and if someone bites anyway then run with it lol
