Wonder if Hughes changes his approach going forward. Thats 2 deals to NJ he moved a veteran to give the young guy(s) runway to take off and they never left the gate. Saw it with many of the young players this preseason, just never came in working their asses off to get a spot and expected it to be handed to them.

I think he's learning you cant have ALL the rookies at the same time in the league.

He's gone, picked up by Utah, hopefully he doesn't come back to haunt the Habs. Given his age, I highly doubt it, but you never know.
He needs a LOT of games. Dobes looks a ton better already.

Edit : Is this Utah thing confirmed?

Though not a waiver claim, signing Tomas Fleishmann to a PTO and the packaging him with Dale Weise for Phillip Danault was another great "free wallet" find.

I think there was also a 2nd pick with Danault coming our way and if i recall correctly, they drafted Romanov

It cannot be confirmed, because the waivers end at 2PM EST tomorrow. I also don't see why they would, Stauber has been doing pretty well as the injury replacement.

I don't think playing more games will fix Primeau, he needs to figure out his head.

We have Fowler coming and Hughes... maybe one of the Euro goalie prospects too

What Euro prospect? Our only euro goalie is Volokhin and he is signed for 2 more years after this one in the KHL.

The only other potential incoming goalies apart from Fowler are Quentin Miller and Joe Vrbetic who need to be signed this summer. Miller has been injured all year (again) so he will need to turn it on to be signed to an NHL deal (and will likely start in TR). I don't see them signing Vrbetic even though he's been good in the few games he played as an ECHL backup goalie this year (only found a club in November).

Croteau has another two years in college and most likely won't get signed. Vecvanags only starts college next year so he has another 4 years.

We signed Demchenko in 2020 but he went straight back to Russia.

Apart from that, the other Euro goalie we recently had was Dichow drafted in 2019, rights lost in 2023. Currently 1b in the SHL.

You might also be thinking of recently drafted Latvian goalie Mikus Vecvanags, but he moved to the BCHL this year and will attend NCAA next year.

Edm has an history of picking up shitty goalie, so maybe :D
They also have a full roster and 2 goaltenders who aren't any worst than Primeau.

If they really wanted to replace Skinner or Pickard with Primeau they would have traded with us, or they would have waived either one already.
