I imagine a charley horse, a cramp, or a spasm in a quad or groin all feels the same when it hurts and you can't get the muscle loose.
Because my understanding of what a Charley horse is, is something you get in the pool, or what you posted:

Why not say contusion or something else?
I get more confused the other way, when someone gets a cramp and calls it a charley horse. I naturally think of it as a contact injury.
Maybe it’s a regional thing idkYeah I can't say I think of a cramp like I would a charley horse. I think of contact when I hear the term aswell. Just like as kids when when you'd give someone a charley horse/dead leg
Yeah it's definitely possible because I've never heard them as interchangeable. When I hear cramps I think of a muscle locking up due to overuse or dehydration, usually doesn't take too long to get over. Not enjoyable at all while they are happening though, I get them in my foot on rare occasion and 10/10 do not recommendMaybe it’s a regional thing idk

Well regardless, I’m “happy” he’s missing two games due to a contusion type injury vs a leg cramp lolYeah it's definitely possible because I've never heard them as interchangeable. Charley horse depending on the impact can cause bruising or even a decent amount of damage to the muscle and you get cases like Werenski and now apparently Lindstrom.
I can definitely just see it being a terminology thing, I'm not sure what else I'd call it or normally hear it referred to
