Funny timing then I guess. You're just here telling us what you would have done because...?

If "it comes down to who would have been a better pick at 4OA" then let's revisit in a coupla years. Like with pretty much all draft picks. And then you can can tell us if you were right.
I am acknowledging that Lindstrom might very well be the best pick at 4OA. I still wouldn't have done it due to the risk factor and available alternatives. That's all that I said.

This is hilarious. I'm glad you're all experts on this topic and have seen his medical chart and know the future. Can we save the "I told you so" until there is actually an impact and something to reference this issue for. This is not the first player to have a back issue or even this issue. I mean, I can't believe how poorly things have gone for Jack Eichel. Seriously, you want a poster child for back issues...that guy. And he had disc replacement. Not a minor surgery. Can we at least give it a couple years before the doom and gloom. Utterly ridiculous.

If Lindstrom hits, O.M.G
If Lindstrom bust, Typical CBJ

With a total lack of knowledge, I hope for the best.

different injury because it occurred in a different area of the spine

Very true, but also was a radical surgery that goes well beyond the minor surgery for Lindstrom. It may shorten Eichel's career, but my point was it didn't end his career and some of the talk on here seems more driven to "I told you so, he's a bust" before anything has happened. He could be a bust without this issue. It's just my opinion that there is way too much being put on this given we have seen Mark Stone and Andrei Vasilevsky have this surgery, later in their careers and have been able to play at a high level. Stone has had multiple injuries so I'm not sure he's a great example here, but this is not a death nail it's being made out to be. Again, that's my take on this thread and I just find it silly at this point.

Pretending a guy will be the healthy player you loved pre-injury is a huge risk, especially when you didn't get a meaningful price reduction to take him. At some point, he will return to the ice, but I expect he has back surgery before he plays any meaningful hockey in the NHL. Can he overcome that? Sure. But I prefer my players that rely on contact to not be broken before I get them recognizing that even healthy guys can break down.
That prediction came true way faster than I expected.

The moves related to Laine, Lindstrom and Jiricek are not making me overly optimistic for the Waddell era. Going to be a long trip back to playoff contention.

the jiricek trade literally just happened…

hunt has played one game in our organization and jiricek hasn’t even played a single game yet for minnesota.

maybe just maybeeee we wait just a little longer before being pessimistic about that trade/degrading waddell as a GM because of it… let it play it out. that sounds like a good idea!

You don’t need to gatekeep how someone feels. I join him in not being overly enthusiastic about the Jiricek deal.

Laine I don’t care about. I’m more annoyed about losing the second.

Lindstrom we’re far too early but I can’t say I’m feeling good about it either.

The Waddell era has been mostly good so far. But that doesn’t mean he’s devoid of any criticism.

I never said he’s devoid of any criticism. not once.

and also never heard the term gatekeep in my entire life, but sounds good Mr. Mod :)

You haven’t? It’s one of the most popular terms in our millennial age group.

The third paragraph very clearly implies Waddell shouldn’t be criticized yet as it’s too early, Mr. Sinatra.

I have not and i’m 30 years old. sorry!

you must be having an off night when it comes to paying attention to detail. the third paragraph clearly says not to criticize GM just yet because of the Jiricek trade.. tell me where it says that he shouldn’t be criticized for anything else. i’ll wait!

I turn 30 in less than 15 days.

Nah, my point was made.

Ironically, the moves that were actually bad involving Laine and Jiricek, were the things we did to originally acquire them. Gabe Vilardi says hello. And yes, the Jones return should be looked at with a bit more scrutiny.

Both Laine and Jiricek quite literally requested trades….why do some people keep trying to dismiss this??

0.0% chance we get what we got if Jiricek requested a trade. 0.0% chance dickwad Walsh wouldn't have leaked it either.

He obviously wasn't happy but he went to Cleveland and was a good soldier. No way he requested a trade.

Laine yeah, and I feel like I'm the only one ever critical of him.

People just have blind spots when players they like ask to be sent away from their team.

Jones obviously made the right decision. Worst stretch in the organization’s history with him removed. And the worst “locker room” and “core” of players. I know I wouldn’t want to play on a team with the Merzlikins and Laine’s of the world. That said, it’s obviously not black and white….

WHY IS NICK FOLIGNO THE CAPTAIN OF THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS!?! Did he quit on the team he captained? Or did the GM go in a different direction??

What was the contract Jarmo offered Jones?? I know you will ignore all my relevant questions and just continue the jabs.

What is this referring to?

(not trying to argue, I am unfamiliar with the reference)
Basically that we completely botched trading Dubois. We should have somebody still around like Gabe Vilardi, not Jordan Harris.

This isn’t the thread.
