I'd love once in a while if Matthews did that in certain situations. He's a big guy. He could probably throw a few bombs alright.

I know you don't want your best players fighting often but man that fires your team up.

I went to get certified as a referee many many moons ago and the instructor boiled it down to 2 things at the very start.. #1) Go to both captains/coaches before every game and say "You guys are going to determine how I call the game. Play the game the right way and I'm not calling the borderline stuff.. Be idiots and I'm calling everything."... #2) Be as consistent as possible within whichever parameters develop from #1.. All that players want is CONSISTENCY.

Not saying he’ll be a 1D** but he can absolutely be the guy to pair with Morgan during the bulk of the contract

I need to see a longer stretch of this level of play first.
But I've certainly been encouraged with his play in the last handful of games. Possibly unpopular opinion, but I'd trust him out there more than Sandin or Holl at this point

Florida, Tampa, Colorado...all those teams have been gifted powerplays game in and game out...Leafs aren't even average, they've been purposely and maliciously punished by the refs - how could management and ownership continue to put up with this bs?
