GDT: CATS AT CANES

a man in a bathrobe is holding his chest with the words that hurts written on his chest

3-3, canes get a wide open net through causing chaos (wordplay intentional), kotkaniemi fumbles it

3-3, panthers get a wide open net through Barkov's strength, size and skill, Verhaege burries it

That's the difference right there. And not much you can do about it. Verhaege was waiver wider fodder when the Panthers got him and he became a 70 point player. Bennett was Kotkaniemi in Calgary. Reinhart was a passable second line center worth a late 1st and nothing prospect. Good for the Panthers fortune, they deserve it too, sucks its not us

KK fumbles everything. Dude could've ended the NYI series in 4 last year but he completely whiffed on an open net. Thankfully they ended it in 5 but still.

What disappoints me is, he admitted last year he sucked. Yet, it doesn't seem like he made much of an effort to improve himself. As much as we sometimes rag on Svech, he sticks around late into the night to work on his scoring.

Tonight should be his last game here. There's just no reason to keep kicking this can down the road. He was a reach by Montreal and he's done nothing to prove otherwise. 4 years here and one good half season and one okay playoff series ( Vs NJ 2023). Not good enough.

Cut the loss and move on.

I mean sure, but tbc I didn't mean that to shit on Kotkaniemi, I meant it as an example of the talent gulf between Carolinas forwards and Florida's forwards

Also LOl at Brind'amour walking off mid-debate and Maurice turning to continue it

But he has an insane ability............to get signed to insane contracts though. Dude is literally in his prime 25yo year next year. IE this is probably as good as it gets. .25pts/playoff game career. Who takes that contract off our hands? Wooof.

Whatever, it was good season to experience with you guys + girl(s).

KK sucks because we are forced to play him in roles and situations he’s not suited for. Your PP should never have a player like him on it. That’s a depth problem and they better fix in the off season. Outside of that he’s a fringe 4th line regular season player. He’s always had weak skating and agility, and a poor release. His one somewhat redeeming quality was he could play a heavy game at times. Outside of that I’ve never understood the appeal.

Bunch of people, mainly northerners, clowning the Canes online. We had a great season. We lost a hugely productive group of players and still came up with our best team in the Rod era. Hopefully, we build on this with a huge free agent class this year. Considering the expectations that I had this year, it was a phenomenal outcome.

Well, I'm glad they sorted out the blowouts and didn't get swept. Biggest thing left that leaves a bad taste in my mouth is blowing leads in our last game of the season two years in a row. Still need to find a way not to let things snowball when the first bad thing happens.

But there is still a lot of good to come and an incredibly interesting offseason. Hopefully, they continue to try to act bold and are ruthless in the couple of areas they need to be.

KK needs a one way trip to f***ing Uranus, but if we can find someone willing to trade anything for him, take it.
