Evans is just a jack of all trades,, long term 3C, top NHL PKer, can play 2C replacement without hurting you. Just a Pageau / Danault type of player.

Primeau is low low risk high rewards, not claimed on waivers then great in AHL, not on Montreal future plan anymore. Great project
Ok but Evans is a pending UFA so we can just sign him in the summer, and Primeau cleared waivers so he has zero value.

We offer a 4th for 50% retention on Evans and you can keep Primeau. We'll figure out the Mittelstadt situation separately

Except we have no need for a 3C. Everything else is not important. The AVS need a center who can put up 2C level offense.

And both Danault and JGP put up multiple seasons of 40-50 point paces.

We have absolutely no need for a low risk goalie project.

Of course, we can sign but if traded, I think will resign with his new team. I would prefer having Evans on board for next year start Ritchie 2C with Evans as a backup or use on specific areas.

... and yes Primeau dont hold so much value, that why I would pick him.

Signing off on something and making the decisions are two different things. That’s like saying the king of England makes all the decisions for cananda
I'm not sure about that, the King of England has no say on anything

Add Rutherford to the list. The young GM does the grunt work. But the guy above him (president or whatever title given) makes the final decision. Plus, he connects with ownership on the big deals. The Middlestadt deal wouldn’t need to go higher than Sakic though.
there is no higher than Sakic

Ya he does. They have a person who signs off on all the bills passed in Canada. He doesn’t actually do anything. But if he wanted to he could stop a bill from passing. The person who signs off is the Governor General I believe. I’m pretty u educated though so I could be wrong.

Sakic puts himself on a position to be a succesfull hero inside and outside the ice and has won a safe position on top for the rest of his lige. He shouldnt put on discussion for the good or bad moves anymore.

Back to thread. Trade Mittlestadt and invest on Evans, then resign him long term. Have a shot on Primeau on the process.
Primeau sucks

Ownership? The buck would stop with Sakic though. Owners don’t fire themselves.
right

Evans has never scored 30+ points in a season but can be a second line center?

Sakic probably helps set the strategy.

Cmac: we need a C
Sakic: I agree let's get a young C that doesn't suck
Cmac: so I traded for this Mittelstadt guy
Sakic: did you forget the doesn't suck part?
Getting Middlestadt and getting Ryan Johansen out of town was a coup.

Mackinnon when first asked about why the Avs were able to beat the Jets in the playoffs last year credited Middlestadt who was a dominant player.

Not sure what happened to the guy, but there was some talk on our boards about conditioning being an issue with him awhile back.

Sweeney needs to have the keys taken away if he's in on Mitts.

MacKinnon is just complimenting the new guy. Mitts was solid against the Jets, but others drove the bus. Makar especially did kinda whatever he wanted in that series.

Totally unfair. Even when the player produces he gets no credit?

He contributed and played a strong 2 way game, give him the credit for it. Most of us were happy with what he was able to do, especially so soon after the trade.

Yet that was what the other post said. He was good, but the Avs big boys took over the series.
All he said was that MacKinnon credited Mittelstadt for having a good series, not that he won it all for them. But fair enough

I find it hard to argue against Nichushkin being the one who drove the bus that series anyways. He was an uncontainable monstrosity
