Rather let's say trade gustafsson for a 4th and using that 4th for Alec Martinez. We lose no assets and free up a roster spot next season

Your talking about veleno or compher?? Veleno its cause I see no future here longterm and compher can go cause we have rasmussen and a replica in copp + a ton of kids coming up real soon

To keep it simple with players we all know, Tyler Bertuzzi with feet.
(And remember Bert is a guy that put up 62 points in 68 games on a very bad wings team)

High IQ, wins puck battles, does everything quick, reads plays to know where to be and to know where the puck will be, can get to the front and screen/tip/rebound but also a good distributer from distance and underrated shot

Wings can really use his forechecking, physicality and pace right now. Even if he just plops into the 4th line I think he's an upgrade on the meh Fisher has brought this season. We have wayyyy to many forwards right now that don't really do anything well. Veleno, Fish, Motte, Tank are all guys that just exist. They aren't great pkers, aren't super physical, aren't board demons, aren't great at faceoffs.

Ras and Copp do get a lot of hate but at least with Copp I can say he is usually really solid on faceoffs/ defensively and Ras is very solid along the boards and also pretty good defensively. They have a purpose even if Copp is overpaid. The other guys are minute munchers but this team desperately needs some energy guys.

Hoping Mazur can maintain the strength/ health to become that Bert like player for the Wings long term. We could use some top 9 grit. I just have the same questions about him that I did of Bert, which is can he stay healthy. If he's healthy I think he is going to be a really positive contributor long term for this team.

Haven’t watch a lot of Mazur, but the way some of you describe his play… should be a good “deadline” add for the team.

Energy players are a large part of what this team is missing.

Seider and Raymond are same aged as 2012-13 comparable Stamkos and Hedman were then.

They inserted more half-season youth on those seasons before, which did carry more than expected.

Mazur is now 5th kid inserted in the lineup (Mazur, Johansson, Edvinsson, Kasper, Berggren) at this season, and at next season we will have more, Danielson, Cossa, maybe ASP or some another defenceman.

This indicates to me that mazur is expected to be up fill time next year and that Fischer and likely motte won’t be brought back. Fischer is liked in the locker room but he’s provided nothing this year. More fat is being trimmed off this team.

Lol what? Mazur is 4 inches shorter and 40 lbs lighter than Brady Tkachuk. He’s got a little snarl to his game but he’s no where near as physical. A worse version of Bertuzzi is a better comp. Small, skilled, gritty guy. Should have a place in the NHL if he can stay healthy/his frame can hold up.
