Seriously. Try calling up a skill guy and seeing what happens rather than calling up plugs like Gibbons or Brown.

I don't mind giving Gibbons or Eetu a chance at 4C and moving Wallmark up to 3C for the moment. But that only makes sense if you add more scoring on the wing from Charlotte or via trade.

Frank Seravelli (sp?) recently tweeted that he thought Pageau could fetch a 1st and a prospect. I imagine since he’s plugged in AND not an Ottawa guy, this is the sense around the league.

This is Pageau at his very highest ceiling so I don’t think it’d be a good time to buy. He is, however, a perfect third line center. He’s everything you’d ever want in one. Dude also has TWO four-goal games in the playoffs.

Some games they've been entirely that bad, some games they've been okay to good but had goaltending issues or ran into a hot goalie.

Pageau is not only off to a hot start, but also the center market is shaping up to be trash. He'd be extremely expensive to trade for at this point.

They just have to suck it up and rely on internal depth (Wallmark, Luostarinen, Geekie at some point, perhaps Necas sliding over, etc.).

edit - for accuracy sake I went back and searched for the tweet. It says “one GM thinks Pageau could go for ....” I understand your skepticism. I didn’t think it made sense either.
But to your point - Pageau is immensely more valuable than Brock McGinn. That’s a little bit of a stretch.
