Tripping was so obvious.
Helps to be a future Hall of Famer to get the Ref's favoritism!
That's an awarded goal right? I think OV got a shootout winner earlier in the season for something pretty similar

Games start in the first period, Canes

Tbf, the 06 Canes never started on time and it ended up okay.
I cannot believe this old man who hadn’t scored in a shootout in 6 years just won 3 of the goddamn things in a row.

Remember when people said his coming back wasn't a big deal? He is personally responsible for 4 points in the standings so far. 3 shootouts @1 pt each and the other game-winner.

Ovi got it for a thrown stick I think. Not sure what the rule is on a poke check that only succeeds at tripping the guy.
that seemed pretty egregious to me in the moment but i dont have enough hockey knowledge to know the rule... at least we won i guess.
This was always my impression. Hangovers are frequently related to dehydration which oxygen would do absolutely nothing to assist with.I have always been under the impression that they elevate the oxygen levels slightly so that people find it easier to stay awake, and thus gamble more.
Statistically speaking, if all teams aim to "start on time" then 50% of the team the other team will have started more on time than you did.Lol, playing poorly in the first period has nothing to do with coaching. Does Rod suddenly become a good coach 15 minutes in?
Not really. Maybe a couple people did, but most thought he'd be a welcome addition back, would add some needed leadership, and would eventually move guys out of the top 6 that didn't belong there. It was viewed as our "free deadline acquisition" by most and rather positively.
The only real concerns I recall were with how well he would play giving the time away from the game. That's still a fair concern at even strength, but the shoot-out prowess is something I don't think anybody expected.
Yes. Given that the Canes still haven't left Vegas, I hope most of them swing by Hangover Heaven before heading to Dallas. The Hangover Rapture treatment sounds pretty sweet. This was always my impression. Hangovers are frequently related to dehydration which oxygen would do absolutely nothing to assist with.
DR. BURKE’S RAPTURE IV HANGOVER CURE – $259

It includes IV hydration fluid (1000 ml), IV Vitamins and Antioxidants, IV Headache Medicine, IV Nausea Medicine, Anti-heartburn Medicine, B-12 Shot and 20 minutes of oxygen.
Yea, I was trying to look up the rules and found that as the rule on a Penalty Shot...which I guess they treat the same way as shootout? But the fact that they awarded OV a goal for the thrown stick rather than a re-do also seems weird then? Or they don't actually have a rule specifically for the shootout and it's up to the ref discretion (mercy, help us!)? Either way, seems pretty bad to let the goalie just take the player out without touching the puck and not awarding a goal/re-doIt's a re-do, not an awarded goal. If reddit is correct, a goalie can do it twice with no repercussions, a 3rd time is a game misconduct (but still no awarded goal).

24.4 | Violations During the Shot - Should the goalkeeper leave the crease prior to the player taking the penalty shot has touched the puck, and in the event of violation of this rule or any foul committed by a goalkeeper, the Referee shall allow the shot to be taken and if the shot fails, he shall permit the penalty shot to be taken over again. When an infraction worthy of a minor penalty is committed by the goalkeeper during the penalty shot that causes the shot to fail, no penalty is to be assessed but the Referee shall permit the shot to be taken over again. |
When a major or match penalty is committed by the goalkeeper that causes the shot to fail, the Referee shall permit the shot to be taken over again and the appropriate penalties shall be assessed to the goalkeeper. | |
The goalkeeper may attempt to stop the shot in any manner except by throwing his stick or any object, or by deliberately dislodging the goal, in which case a goal shall be awarded. |
Don't forget the shoot out. He's been good in that since being back.My only comment on Williams return was that it wouldn't fix the issues that plagued the team before his return. And it mostly hasn't. Goaltending is still a toss-up and the defensive play in front of them is still a mess. And the effort level on any given night is anyone's guess. The power play does appear to have gotten a little jump from his inclusion though, which is good to see.

You are correct. We are 5-0 in shootouts this season, I think. Though three of those are with contributions by Willy. But we were successful in the shootout before his return. If I remember correctly. I could be completely off on that.

YES! That's what I was looking for, appreciate the clarification...kind of an odd line to draw in the sand, but it's there (reasons!)They awarded the goal for the thrown stick because that's what the rule says, it's not the same as a trip. First section tripping, last line throwing the stick.

Healing Crystals, Salt Lamps, Magnet Therapy....My understanding of both (why O2 is increased in the casinos, why hydration helps the hangover) as well.
I do see a lot of oxygen bars that claim to help with hangovers, so the theory is being advertised. Don't think I buy it though.
