Galchenyuk is groomed to be our Number 1 Center. The best way is to put him at center for Number 3 line and slowly move him up. This would be better for the Habs long term.

A coach will not and should not put together his lines based on some future he will most likely not be a part of. His job is to win games now.

I don't really feel like this lineup is worthy of being called 'depleted'. What's missing? One forward and the starting goalie? Not that bad really when you look around the league.

Sunday's line was Pacioretty/Desharnais/Cole...but on Monday, it became Pacioretty / Desharnais / Eller

I think Pacioretty would benefit from a few games with Plekanec. I wouldn't separate Bourque and Plekanec though with the way they are playing. Proabably just move Bourque to his natural RW and have:

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Bourque
Eller - DD - Cole
Prust - Galchenyuk - Gionta
Moen - White - Armstrong

First line looks good, the second line had some chemistry before Pacioretty came back from injury and they haven't played together since to see if it was a fluke or not. And if Galchenyuk has two vets on his wings who are both great defensively then his line can be trusted with more minutes and responsibilities. Not to mention Chuckie looked good with Gallagher and Gionta is pretty much just an older, more polished version of him (though slumping right now). Gionta might even benefit from the third line matchups and bust out of his slump if they develop some chemistry.

If that's the case, Galchenyuk should be playing center in junior hockey. You may mess him up by forcing him playing wing now and expect him to be a number 1 center sometime in the future.

Somebody should tell Chiarelli that Julien may have messed Seguin up by playing him on the wing.

We're down our top 2 dmen and second leading goal scorer. Hard to handicap this game.

We aren't really that depleted. Price and Gallagher are both out but Subban, Pacioretty, and Emelin, who all looked questionable at one time or another, will all be playing as far as I know.

Common Habs! Come on Eller! Come on all 4 lines! Let's win this thing.

Will be super tough, but I have faith that this team can take it. (With a Godly Price, of course.)

Go Habs Go!

Habs 3-2.

Edit: Just noticed Price is still sick. F. Not that Budaj didn't do a good job last game, but those were routine aside from the one where he corrected his mistake. Or when PK did. He'll be busy tonight!

The Canes are really leaning on their top line to carry the load so I hope Subban and Gorges are paired up to shut them down.

That's not necessarily true. The second line has been almost as good as the first and the third line has been flat-out dominant the last couple games. Juggling the forwards is likely to change that but this Jokinen-JStaal-Dwyer line could be really dangerous.

The problem I see for the Canes tonight is the bottom two lines are now full of AHL players and there has been no cohesion at all. Welsh and Nash just called up. LaRose was a healthy scratch last game, Wallace and Westgarth have been in and out of the lineup, Bowman and Nodl are kind of just there taking up space.

I can see the Canes playing with mostly two lines tonight and getting scored on every time the third line goes out.

I feel like Seguin had already developed enough physically. Gally has a long way to go with that, but he has enough talent and brains to learn on the go. Hopefully he can add to his frame. He'll be unstoppable. This is definitely a year where he is not expected to get his nose dirty - not even go to the net. More playmaking and if you can win your battles (which he has been doing more often with his quick stick), that's great. I don't disagree that Junior could help, but we'll never know. He's doing fine so far.

I look at Gally and he has been ready, physically for the NHL and boy does it show. Oh man I hope he's ok. Living in 27's shadow, but I've been excited about him since the WJC he played in and he's met my expectations. Hope he comes out of this A OK.

This is going to depend on whether we play our usual "tons of great chances but can't put it in" or "Clutch plays, responding to haters" game. Really want Eller to score a beauty. Rip shot from the top of the circle to beat Ward.

Yeah, but your captain asked his brother to demand a trade so they could play on the same team and now you guys are pretty stacked in that position.

Can we get Stephen Gionta just to see if the fanbase explodes under the tremendous weight of the "midget syndrome?"

Cuz that Gallagher guy will never make it. Too many schtroumfs, not enough Staal!:sarcasm:

edit: Ok, I'll stop posting. What's with this thread? Am I reading the date wrong?

Ha! My bad. I shall use full forms (and fight through this hangover) to avoid denigrating Les Glorieux. Allez les boys!

Short form you wanted is C'mon.

Don't know why it's like that.

Habs lose.

Apparently our whole team is injured and the Staals, Semin, and Tlusty will take the ice tonight surrounded by the best AHLers we could round up on short notice and/or guys off the street who look fit. Advantage Habs!

Should be an interesting game. My prediction: Chad LaRose scores a goal, and Cam Ward makes at least one save that shocks Montreal.

oh no! gally is not centre and eller is! this is written in stone and the coach can never change this up from shift to shift ZOMG!!!1!11

also, just because our game day decision players, are playing, doesn't mean they're in ideal game shape to play. they'll play, but i never expect much in a game from guys who were on the fence when they woke up that morning. being a warrior doesn't change the fact that your body took a hit in some form and you're not actually as good as you should be as much as you think you are and can be.

Glad to hear that PK and Patch will play, I would love it if eller and Agally struck up some chemistry. Eller has been great handling the puck, and I want to Agally shoot more, would love it if he lit the lamp.

3-1 Habs

Gionta
Moen
Cole

JStaal
