I think you'll see the opposite. Most of the rest of the league has been standing still for two weeks. I think Matthews and Marner will probably light up Carolina and Chicago this weekend because they will be much sharper.

and player who didn't play for 2 week will be hungry
vs
player coming from the final, it will be hard to come back focus as fast

I don't know how many time every year we saw a team playing a emotionnal game and be flat the next one and we talk about a regular seqson game. Multiply that X 1000, and you will get the kind of hangover 4 nation tournament bring. I just expect energy level could be low

Mitch looked wiped. It’ll take a few days I think.
But here is #3 AHL scoring leader (#1 in goals) ready to pitch in….

This game is going to look like a dogs breakfast compared to what we just watched over the last two weeks.
Don't be so sure, I watched Philly and Oilers this afternoon. It wasn't a dog at all, not a masterpiece either, but some great plays, some great saves a couple of heavy hits. Oiler PP was a bit of a scramble, but a decent game.

Hoping the Leafs use their legs for 3 periods, it's the only way to knock off the Canes.

If Berube plays these two more than 18 minutes tonight, he's a bit of an idiot there to be honest. These guys are cooked. And any hero here saying suck it up, would be the first guys to call it in to their boss. The NHL really messed up having a final Thursday and then back to backs. Whole season has been embarrassing schedule wise, is it AI assisted, because it is so uneven and stupid.

Matthews has played 1 game this week and Marner 2. We play Chicago tomorrow which should be an easier game so I don't see why Berube wouldn't play our best players 18-20 mins today if it's a close game. Depending how much Marner drank after the win on Thursday maybe he's not feeling 100% but some of the other players who won have looked fine today.

They could have re-started the season tomorrow or had the 4-N final on Wednesday.

I watched the first half of the Edmonton game, McJesus looked uninterested and slow, and his stats matched the eye test: zero points, -3

Why call up Steeves just put him on the fourth line? Christ's sake he should be on the third. Move McMann up to line two, Steeves to line three, and banish Holmberg to the fourth line. You already know you're getting nothing from Pontus offensively, at least put McMann in the top six because you know you're going to get offensive flare with the same and better intangibles you'd get from Holmberg. And Steeves gets a chance with better skilled players.
