Tomas Hertl and defenseman
Erik Karlsson.
Monahan (6' 2", 200 lbs, 10/12/1994) joins the Sharks after spending the last seven seasons in Calgary. During that span, Monahan tallied 194 goals and 411 points in 541 NHL games. Prior to turning pro, he spent three seasons with the OHL's Ottawa 67's, including one as Captain. The Brampton, Ontario native was drafted in the 1st round, 6th overall by the Flames in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Andersson (6' 1", 214 lbs, 10/27/1996) comes to San Jose after spending two full seasons with the Flames, 41 points and 80 penalty minutes in 149 games. Prior to turning pro, he was Mangiapane's teammate in Barrie of the OHL, where he tallied 124 points and 148 penalty minutes in 131 games. The Malmo, Sweden native was drafted in the 2nd round, 53rd overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Mangiapane (5' 10", 184 lbs, 4/4/1996) comes to the Bay Area following his first full NHL season, notching 17 goals and 32 points in 68 games. Prior to turning pro, he spent three seasons with the OHL's Barrie Colts, including a 51-goal campaign in 2015-16. The Bolton, Ontario native was drafted in the 6th round, 166th overall by Calgary in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Additionally, the Sharks have signed Mangiapane to a 4-year, $12 million extension ($3 million Average Annual Value).
"We know some may question this move," said the Sharks GM. "But we felt that, following a disappointing season, we needed to shake things up. Erik is an elite talent, but we're happy to get Rasmus, who we feel is quickly becoming an elite talent in his own right. Acquiring Sean makes us better up the middle, and Andrew provides some much-needed secondary scoring."
The 2020 NHL Entry Draft continues virtually this weekend. San Jose will be on the clock soon.
