I like that comparison. We have a real gem on our hands. He was going be a better pro what I seen at the World Juniors, he was a man among boys.

I don't think he has the offensive upside of Paryako. But he is still looking to be a real good player on the back end for the Bruins.

Yeah I should've said that. He certainly doesn't have that 100+ MHP slap shot, but I think he could produce a few goals. I'm very excited about that.

I think Zboril has a higher ceiling, but Carlo also has a pretty damn high ceiling and he's less of a risk. No prospect is "certain", but it looks like a pretty safe bet that Carlo will make an impact for us much sooner than later. Zboril is still probably a few years away.

I think Zboril just had a rough year, he'll rebound. But Carlo is already contesting for a spot on the NHL squad, and that tells you how good he is. Very happy we have both of them.

Looks like Chabot will be sticking with the Sens for at least the 9 games. Hopefully, Zboril makes the most of it, and cements himself as "the man" on the back end for the Sea Dogs.

Only issue/concern I have is his role, potentially changing again. Half of his issues last year stemmed from going from an offensive go to type of player in year one who yes, played D well but was often an offensive spark from the back end

Last season, asked/tasked with being THE man as far as shutting down opponents, he sulked and struggled then got over it and played very well.

Now he might be back to being the focal point on the back end with more freedom to do his thing offensively, wondering if this will wind up hurting him a bit as I think the kid grew leaps defensively but now will be given the green light offensively, might be a bit confusing for the kid trying to find that balance. Question might be, what do the Bruins want him to be?

We`ll see

One would hope that he would still be able to excel defensively, even if given more time on the PP. I want all areas of his game to develop if he's going to spend the year in Junior.

Yes Chabot sticking could be a good thing for Zboril and Boston

Is Chabot a better prospect than Zboril (same age)? Wasnt Chabit drafted a few notches down?

Off the top of my head, believe he went in the 20's?

It seems as if Zboril has the capacity to become an all-around D that can play in all 3 zones, while Chabot (from what I have read/very limited viewings) seems to be regarded as more of an offensive D?

Edit: Chabot went 5 picks after Zboril (18th).

Saw highlights of the game.

i mean how good is this kid. He is a fast skater. Moves quickly from standstill and has those long strides. Beautiful to watch.

For the 5th goal, very solid quick pass to Marchand , and a few strides later he was already in the offensive end.

still long ways to go and mistakes are likely to happen. But Carlo does not look like an ordinary 19/20 year old D.

*edit*
Reading some of the post game comments, either Carlo did make some noticeable mistakes or some fans are just very critical.
thoughts?

He may have set a record for highest +/- +5 in a first game; seemed to play calmer as game went along

He made mistakes that he will learn from but it's pretty apparent he will be a good player in this league for along time

He is calm and makes quick decisions. from what i have seen he really tries to play within his limits. I haven't really seen him take it out of the D zone and into the offensive end. He usually retrieves the puck quickly and dumps it out or makes a solid pass out of the zone (like with the pass to Marchand for the 5th goal)

But this is ok.. better than trying to do too much and making mistakes.

One was an ugly McQuaid like sequence of losing a puck battle on the boards and then in front of the net whiffing at the puck and falling over leading to a goal. The other he was left out to dry on a perfectly executed back door pass on the PP his teammates as much as him. Looked bad but that stuff happens. Very solid game otherwise and responded. Colin Miller had one of his best games as a Bruin but had 2 worse mistakes one resulted in Rask getting beat for a goal the other almost gifted Cbus a game tying goal in the 3rd but they didn't convert the 2-1. But was great other than those 2 moments probably better than Carlo.

Carlo looked a little tight early on, which is to be expected. I very much hope he gets an extended stay with the big club. It will be interesting to see how he looks after 10 or so games once he is settled in a bit more. Playing with Z is a huge opportunity for him to have a crash course on how to defend. Regardless if Z is not his former self, he is one of the best shut-down defensemen of this era and can give a lot of knowledge to Carlo. Carlo will have to take his lumps but man this is a tremendous opportunity for a young defenseman with a lot of raw talent to grow.

I agree that Miller had a really good game. Carlo was solid nevertheless. The most pleasant surprise, IMO, was O'Gara: pretty much flawless. Krug on the other hand didn't look good.

We watched a different game! Ah well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
