Player Discussion Carey Price - Moving Home Edition

Could he actually play?

Like - for real?

The way I understand his injury - it wasn't that he couldn't play. It's that the pain was too great, and therefore not sustainable. 1 game? no problem. 5 or 10 games? Probably fine too. Continue his career over the long-term? No - he couldn't.

Dobes has done good - but he's a rookie. If I can choose between a rusty Carey Price - and a rookie goalie, give me Carey Price.

Not sure what physical condition he's in. Some athletes keep up with their training after retirement, and some don't.
Has medical technology improved where they can teleport new cartlage within the knee. My understanding is he wore all his cartilage/ miniscus away to nothing. It doesn’t grow back either.

It's par of course for us Hab fans eh lol..

Out of nowhere we're talking about his "height" again because he's a measly 6"2 and not 6"3 like Carey was

Instead of talking about 2 playoff wins 0 loss, 1 shutout, 1.00 GAA .956%

Price was 6'2". He says it himself in a video on the Canadiens channel. The official heights are often exaggerated. For example, Subban was never 6'.

Rumblings on how Price's contract could be traded this offseason to a team with cap issues.....could be..............do they give us a pick for doing this, or do we give them a pick for taking the $$$ off our hands?

I think this can be mutually beneficial for a teams struggling to reach the floor. I don't think we need to give much of anything. Price's contract will be very appealing to such a team (should it exist), given the fact he will only be slated to make 2M in actual salary and that will be paid by insurances.

Subban at 6" ??? No Way ! He's told himself online, that he's carrying a "hammer" ; 10"-12"

No exemption required. He’s earned it. Again, better resume than many already retired.

We’re talking about a probable first ballot HOFer. Give it a rest.

Right, except not at all.

He clearly does. Now, if they arbitrarily exclude him because his GM (the maestro himself) was a dumbass then so be it. But it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.

I think Richard is probably the 5th best player of all time. But if he’s the standard then guys like Lafleur don’t make it. It’s just silly to do that.
Price could have left here if he wanted. He was UFA in 2017. He knew Bergs, Julien, Geoff and atmosphere in Montreal. He chose to stay, way things worked out as much his fault as anybody

It doesn't really matter either way. Just get 'er done after July 1st we need as much unencumbered cap space as we can find.

He had no idea the team would be blown up the way it was. Nobody did. The incompetence on the part of Bergevin in the summer of 2017 was absolutely stunning. And we went two years with ten million in empty cap space.

Apparently the bonus would be due on September 1st and not on July 1st... the gift that keeps on giving... sigh

I didn't know that I've never seen September 1st mentioned in the articles I've read on the subject I'm supposed to know this stuff I guess.
I guess a plan to move the contract could be made with a time trigger and still be legal and binding so that the Cap Space could be used beforehand. :dunno:
