Any collectors here? In recent months I've jumped back into the hobby. I've got Roy/Gretzky/Lemieux/Dionne/Lafleur/Dryden rookies already, and I jsut bought 2 Brett Hull's, Yzerman, Messier, Bourque. I am more into the older stuff, but I am starting to get into some newer stuff which I find a bit more difficult to follow with all the different series/sets. I received a 2016-2017 High Gloss 6/10 PK Subban card today. Only problem is he's in a Nashville uni, but stunning card.

I've got an Al Macinnis RC, Kirk Muller RC, Al Iafrate RC etc, in fact, I have the entire 1985-86 o-pee-chee set. I am hoping to land a Connor Bedard Young guns when they come out. I'll be buying a few boxes to rip.

Anyone else in this hobby?

I like cards. I have a bunch and every once in a while I get a bunch more. I have a project in mind to display some, but haven't gotten to it yet. I also have many I need to sell. I think there is a card thread somewhere - I'm not sure if it is on hfhabs or on another board. Hope you have fun with it!!

Get them all graded. The first list of rookies.

The price will be increased just because.

I use to collect everything, but now I'm just Patrick Roy and hockey memorabilia.

I have some nice old cards from when I was young, I have Wayne's RC but the corners are banged up from playing those games where you would hit down the cards up against the baseboards. Ughhhhh.

I also have two Mario RC, these are in much better condition. Also have a Coffey and some other decent ones from the 80s. Then I have some early 90s stuff but I doubt those are worth much as they were produced en masse. Check out the series on Netflix about sports memorabilia collections called, The Goldin Touch that just came out last month or so. Insane amount of $$$ in that industry.

My Lemieux/Roy/Yzerman are all graded. My Brett Hull's, Bourque and Messier's that are en route are graded too, my Subban Highgloss is a psa 10.

Still some decent cards in the 90's if you get them graded. Jagr UD and opc premiere are good cards if in mint condition. Lindros future superstar score is a nice card. There are some good ones from the early 90's.

Actually 90-91 upperdeck is my favourite series of all time. It's when cards took a new turn, but yeah, they flooded the market with them. Too bad, that set has a ton of top rookies Jagr, Nedved, Owen Nolan, Fedorov, Ricci, Richter, Joseph, Schneider, Sundin, modano, roenick, belfour and on and on. It's really a great set, too bad they overproduced it.

its been my hobby since I was 7 I have a nice collection. I'm missing the big rookies still, but have been adding to it the laset couple years. Recessions are a good time to start buying again. I have lots of graded psa 10's, Roy, Susuki (plus some special edition Suzuki I bought on auction sites) Dryden psa 9, and recently grabbed the only Gainey Rookie sgc 9.5 , highest I've ever seen 1 of 1. and a 1965 Topps Yvan Cournoyer #76 PSA EX 5... love that too. All the stars from the 90's I have as well, my Yzerman psa 10 was a nice find at an estate auction for dirt cheap. I love this hobby!

I just looked I have 4 Roy rookies, have to send away to get graded. I think one of them is going to be a 9, its flawless compared to my 8.5 I sold last year.

I liked them when I was ~7-12, traded for goalies all the time. McDonalds cards were a classic. Nowadays it's Tim Hortons.

My uncle gave us his Parthusrt collection from the 50s...only problem is there were all glued in a notebook. (Possible $50k to $0.00)
:slaugh:

My sister collected Pavel Bure. Especially the cards without his equipment. I wonder why..

I've (re) started during the pandemic and I have managed to grow a pretty epic collection in the last few years, all of it vintage and mostly autographed cards. 10 x Maurice Richard, 15 x Beliveau, 40+ different Lafleur, Roy, Lemieux etc. Have signed rookie cards of almost every Québec-born HoFer. Also have many key cards from the 1910-20-30's like a Vézina rookie (and several others), Lalonde, Pitre, Laviolette, Mantha etc...

Growing up I had a Roy, Orr, Gretzky, Lafleur, Dryden, Bourque and a Bossy rookie card, and others I can't remember. My parents threw them out after clearing out the attic years ago.

Enough to make a grown ass man cry.

This one time when I was a young lad, my dad took me to a World Cup in Montreal... Canada VS US (Canada lost). We were outside the arena, and an older gentleman came up to me and asked if he could give me something (not candy)... and he than gave me a pin of his son.

That man was Walter Gretzky, and gave me a pin of Wayne while he was with the Oilers.

Also another time, after a habs game when you were able to wait in the parking garage after games to get autographs.. I asked a player for a stick and he asked If I was gonna be there next game... obviously I said yes. Sent my dad to the following game, and he picked up a signed David Wilkie stick.

2 legends of the game.

(I also saw Saku Koivu's driver ran over a kids foot while they were arriving to the arena)

I was but it's beyond stupid now. So expensive and no longer fun. Too many sets and it's marketed to people thinking there's a profit to be made. Also don't get me started on e-cards. How lame is that. I don't even stream movies or music.

Beckett, of PSA are the top choices, but they're expensive and then there's the shipping and whatnot.

For Canadian options there are KSA and the one I last used, Mint (MNT).

Grading helps the card sell better.
Thank you!

Thank you!
To further add, if you live in a big city check out card stores and ask if they do bulk submissions. Some places do and it saves money, but you gotta make sure you 1000% trust them.

Someone told me about a company out in Vancouver that does bulk submissions to Beckett, but I wouldn't do that shit as it's across the country from me, so I can't even go there and throw a brick through their window.
