Here's our 4C some of us were speculating on. Kudos to those of y'all who foresaw taking one of McCarron or Sissons from Nashville. This is adjacent to that. Bonus points this locks up the spot at basically league min for next year as well. This gives us 10 forwards signed for next year, with only Robinson, Roslovic, and Hall as our notable UFAs.

Roslovic is probably the only forward UFA that walks. The Hall extension is rumored to be close to finalized and the Robinson extension will likely be penned in the offseason.

With our oodles of cap space we could re-sign Robinson to 1 year, $10M for the lols and still be completely fine cap-wise.

We'll probably do some crazy 1 year contracts next year and then use the expiration of those contracts to pay it all to 8 year extensions to Stankoven, Nikishin, Morrow, and Blake.

Speaking of Hall, weren’t the canes working on a deal with him?

It’s gone quiet and I hope Hall isn’t being money pucked.

Btw: right now I don’t see the Canes spending to the cap.

They will spend to the cap, but likely on a bunch of high-dollar 1-2 year contracts. They probably want to make sure their big Gen Z wave is paid throughout their prime.

First off the free agent market is weak.

Thus, why spend big bucks on remaining second tier class of available players? Save the money to monetize assets for other teams trades (or another big splash of a player to be named next year)

Thus the solution is to pay high salaries, but for one year.

Getting Jankowski with an extra year of term at $800k may put a lid on them bringing back Robinson, especially with Martinook/Carrier also having term left and them rumored to also be bringing back Hall

Potentially, unless certain scoring guys are scared off by what happened to Guentzel and Rantanen. We might have to spend a bunch on defense and goaltending that we wanted to spend on scoring.

Maybe their WAGs won't like Raleigh either, but the one thing they can't do is say we aren't willing to offer a big contract after the Mikko dealings. We offered up to 13m with a lot of term for a guy that did f*** all here.
