Doesn't Williams have to pass through waivers? I thought if you signed after a certain date you have to,

Only overseas players not on club's reserve list who get signed after the season started overseas.

13.23 In the event a professional or former professional Player plays in a league outside North America after the start of the NHL Regular Season, other than on Loan from his Club, he may thereafter play in the NHL during that Playing Season (including Playoffs) only if he has first either cleared or been obtained via Waivers. For the balance of the Playing Season, any such Player who has been obtained via Waivers may be Traded or Loaned only after again clearing Waivers or through Waiver claim. This section shall not apply to a Player on the Reserve List or Restricted Free Agent List of an NHL Club with whom the Player is signing an NHL SPC or is party to an existing SPC with such NHL Club.

I see Willy filling in the right side of Svech's and Staal's line by the post-season. Yes, Foegele's been excellent this season after a slow start, however, a re-adjusted-to-game-speed Willy is a short-term postseason upgrade. Foegele still has value giving Wallmark an upgrade in the offensive department on the 4th line, with McGinn being Chandler Stephenson'd.

Huh? This makes zero sense unless they are just cheap. Go out and get someone under 35 that will bring an impact. Carolina has pace to their offence and this guy at 38 is just going to slide in and be a game changer? Subtraction by addition here. Literally comical. What do they think he is going to do after not playing all year? Just score game 7 goals all the way to the Cup? Carolina got rooked.

What is so special about Williams? Genuinely curious as to why he’s so revered by some
Human psychology is a major element of any sports. Players are humans, and their emotions affect how they play. In a league with a lot of talk about #leadership, Justin Williams is the real deal. He keeps people happy and working well together when things are going well, when people are tense and anxious in big situations he calms them down, when things are going badly he has a very real talent for getting people to calm down and refocus on the right things or energize them and get them moving, and can seize a moment where something goes well and rally players to use it as an emotional turning point. He has a lot of success in big games because he doesn't get intimidated by the moment, and can really get others relaxed and back to playing their own games- players have talked in interviews about how Williams was able to change their emotional state and approach even in the biggest moments- Game 7 OT against the Caps last year was specifically mentioned by players as a moment where a lot of players were jittery and starting to make mistakes and Williams was the one who got them back settled into their own game. He's genuinely one of the best leaders I've seen in any field.

Also, he still hockeys well.
