Canes actually have the Leafs to thank for claiming Primeau. If they didn't, they probably would've just sent Bussi back through waivers and would've rolled the start of the season with Primeau as a call-up instead of having 3 goalies on their NHL roster.

To be fair, hindsight is 20/20. It’s not like he showed that he could do that before. He was ok in the AHL and that’s it.

I guess if there’s a lesson to be learned, it’s to not be afraid to give guys a chance at the net when nothing is working.
