You look at this roster compared to the other 2 powerhouses in the Metro and there shouldn’t be any effing way this team ends up a division winner with 113 points and yet here we are. It’s not quite the miracle we saw in 1980 but it’s pretty damn close IMHO!

Well we are one of the best defensive teams, and have the best offensive defense in the league. So thats helping.

9 sec left and Florida is just going to try and get someone hurt now for no goddamn reason
Can’t wait to see them do it to the bruins. They may still win but they’ll have a damn tough road against this dirty Panthers squad and then Tampa/Toronto winner. And their core is old and susceptible to slowing down late in the grind of a long playoff run.

I’m not going to say Rod needs to say Raanta is starting game 1 in the postgame press conference. He can wait until tomorrow.

But it would make me feel better tonight.
i Think they should recall Kotch to backup playoff games , let whoever Andersen or Rantaa start but if he sucks replace him right away with Kotch and let the other goalie start the other game , i think by remove the sucky goalie and putting the kid in might wake up the team

This game broke me on Freddie. He came within a whisker of single-handedly taking a banner out of the PNC Arena rafters tonight. It would be negligent to go into the playoffs with a goalie who’s performing this way, regardless of paycheck or pedigree. It really has to be Raanta, at least to start.

He was doing great until he let in that first goal. That first goal wasn't a bad one to give up, but it clearly affected him, because that second one almost immediately after was ENTIRELY his fault.

And suddenly the game is tied and any goodwill he may have built up (with his teammates) throughout the game is gone. Suddenly, their defense consists of "Must prevent any and all shots, because who knows what Freddie will do"

Any of you guys tried sildenafil?
Not me, but are you talking as related to migraines? I just looked it up and it says that sildenafil can trigger them.

I've only clearly identified two triggers; staying up long past a point when I'm dead tired and buffalo wings. I still eat wings but I take 50mg of sumatriptan right after, lol.

2nd overall.

+53 goal differential (wanted +55 to give me an excuse to post Sammy Hagar)

1 standing point better than 2005-06. Tied the 52 win mark that year.

The first race has concluded. Now it's time to win the whole damn marathon.

ChatGPT out here rhyming wild with wild.

Write a disco song about the Carolina Hurricanes winning their third consecutive division title.

(Verse 1) Carolina's team, they're on fire
Skating fast, they never tire
They know how to pass, they know how to score
And they're always hungry for more

(Chorus) Canes are dancing on the ice tonight
Their third division title's a sight
They're unstoppable, they're unbeatable
They're the champions, they're incredible

(Verse 2) With Brind'Amour as their guide
They always stay focused, they never hide
Their speed is electric, their moves so slick
They make it look easy, they make it quick

(Chorus) Canes are dancing on the ice tonight
Their third division title's a sight
They're unstoppable, they're unbeatable
They're the champions, they're incredible

(Bridge) The crowd's on their feet, they're going wild
Canes are gonna party, they're gonna get wild
They've worked so hard, they've earned this win
Now it's time to celebrate and let the party begin

(Chorus) Canes are dancing on the ice tonight
Their third division title's a sight
They're unstoppable, they're unbeatable
They're the champions, they're incredible

(Outro) Canes are the kings of the rink
They've won it all, they're in the pink
They're a disco inferno, they're hot as can be
Canes are the champions, for all to see.

Agreed and I'd honestly consider having Koochie backup just for the upside he has to steal games. The risk isn't even any higher than playing Freddie considering how poorly he's played. Especially as (if) we get deeper in the playoffs where goaltending will be even more critical for us against teams with heavier firepower than the Isles.

The goalie situation will be interesting. I can see why they would be sour on Freddie (duh) and Raanta has been pretty great. But I would not be shocked if they go with Freddie. I think Rod still really trusts Koch too in spite of some meh games after his hot streak. If we go anywhere, we'll need two to three of them anyway. So, I'm not really stressin.

Have you tried any of the triptan drugs? Of course everyone isn't going to react the same way, but sumatriptan has proved to be a miracle drug for me. I used to be hurting for 2-3 days, but sumatriptan makes the migraine disappear; maybe just a bit more tired for a day or so.
need to give that a look, I'll bring up the idea with my pcp. If that's the worst I get then it's a major win.

An unnoticed component behind "why does our offense not get ANY transition game right now" this season is exactly what you said. This is like the 38th game this year where we just haven't gotten good goaltending. The team D is outstanding enough that they can seemingly prevent the other team from ever getting a shot on goal. We were playing the Justin Peters / David Ayres offense. The cost to that is you basically give up any ability to transition since your forwards have to commit deep.

You can see the players' mentality. They just don't believe Andersen can make a save. I feel like we're overstating this point, but at the same time it's alarmingly below NHL goaltending for huge portions of the year.

Write song lyrics celebrating a Carolina Hurricanes division title in the style of Parliament Funkadelic

Verse 1: Get up, Canes fans, it's time to party
The storm is brewing, the city's getting hearty
The Canes are flying, they're on a roll
Gonna take the division, and never lose control

Chorus: Carolina Hurricanes, they're gonna funk it up
Division title, they're never gonna stop
Gonna skate hard, play fast, and have some fun
Carolina Hurricanes, they're the number one

Verse 2: The crowd is cheering, they're getting loud
The Canes are rocking, they're never gonna bow
The funk is strong, and the rhythm is tight
The Canes are on fire, and they're gonna light up the night

Chorus: Carolina Hurricanes, they're gonna funk it up
Division title, they're never gonna stop
Gonna skate hard, play fast, and have some fun
Carolina Hurricanes, they're the number one

Bridge: The Canes are the funk masters, they own the game
Their moves are slick, and they're never the same
The Stanley Cup is theirs, they can taste the victory
The Carolina Hurricanes, they're the funky history

Chorus: Carolina Hurricanes, they're gonna funk it up
Division title, they're never gonna stop
Gonna skate hard, play fast, and have some fun
Carolina Hurricanes, they're the number one

Outro: So get up and dance, and wave your Canes pride
The

division is theirs, they've taken it in stride
Carolina Hurricanes, they're the funkadelic kings
The city is rocking, and the storm still sings
ChatGPT must be stopped

It's Freddie's net. I think this could be a big mistake but Rod was on a team where we went from Gerber to Ward. So I could see a goalie shuffle especially if Freddie continues to give up softies.
