I’m more confused about signing Jarvis for eight years

Plenty of teams have been signing their good young players to max length contracts, left and right. Committing to their core going forward, and Jarvis is part of Carolina's core, for sure.

I'm a Habs fan, Hughes did the same with Suzuki/Caufield/Slafkovsky/Guhle, I know I'm perfectly fine with it, it just gives young players incentives to push forward.

I don't think there's anything confusing about giving Jarvis an 8 years contract, especially given how he's developing.
