I am surprised that they didn't give JR a chance given his history and goal scoring3 guys that should produce something
Aho, skill guy
Svetch #2 pick
Necas 1st rounder
Maybe Blake should get a shot

Svech has only ever done that move every attempt lolGod, we have no finesse in the shootout. The same thing every time.
I mean since when had Svech had a great shot? He has never been a guy who can pick a corner3 guys that should produce something

It maybe me, I think I'm cursed on shootout success, I still remember when Vegas went 0-19 in three consecutive shootouts which caused them to miss the playoffs that one time. The more upsetting thing is, as lame as martin is, he made it possible. All we needed was ONE goal to have a shot.
Nah. too much to ask.
Jesus f*** didn’t he pick a corner 2 nights ago?I mean since when had Svech had a great shot? He has never been a guy who can pick a corner
Should. He has had years to improve.I mean since when had Svech had a great shot? He has never been a guy who can pick a corner
Any updates on Kochetkov? That was absolutely horrifying to see. Hope he'll be OK...
The shootout doesn’t have anything to do with that. Brandon Sutter has the same career % as Evgeni Malkin. And they are both nearly 10% higher than Ovi, the best finisher of all time. It's almost like we have years of evidence to show we have an absolute dearth of finishing talent on the team
Does any other team deal with goalies making these plays that lead to injuries? Crazy. Why would you go for a poke check out of the crease with players coming in that fast.
Looking at the replay, Burns signaled for Staal to watch Marchenko. But then both he and Staal followed the puck. Martinook was probably the guy that should have covered, but he wasn't aware that it was his guy.
Because Walker was losing that battle and if he didn't try to do something, there was a chance Werenski could have cut in front of the net instead of being forced behind.
Blind squirrel found a nutJesus f*** didn’t he pick a corner 2 nights ago?
There were guys to cover the point on the right side. Martinook got stuck in no man’s land. Anyway, bad loss. Team took foot off the pedal in the 3rd, aho’s 4 minutes late didn’t help.At 1:14? That was the two of them coordinating which one would cover the left point if the puck went that way. It’s not a man-on-man scenario, they each have a zone to cover.
Once the puck went to the right side, the zones shifted. Burns’ responsibility is to prevent puck movement from behind the net to in front. Staal’s covering the immediate passing option, Monahan. Martinook is effectively covering both points.
That’s good defensive structure. I don’t think Rod would change the Xs and Os of this.
Meanwhile, Columbus is showing that they’re going to flex Burns high-to-low between two Jackets, but the real play is to Monahan.
What makes it all work is that the pass to Monahan isn’t right to his tape, it’s a foot or two ahead of him so that he can step out and receive it without Staal tying up his stick, then use that little bit of space to turn and put it to an undefended area on the back side. It’s like a hook-and-ladder in football, if you can’t create a little bit of space with a step toward the pass then it won’t work. They executed it perfectly.
If we want to absolutely nitpick for someone to blame, strictly speaking Martinook could have dropped down to cut off that passing lane. I don’t think that’s fair to expect of him, given how fast it developed and that he was already pushing the limits of how far down he could responsibly drop. It was just a really well executed and well conceived play to break down the zones and run a pass through a seam which was a second priority to all of the defenders.
At least he wasn't given a collar and being carried with strechers. But concussions are not good either.Well at this point we have to just hope he dosnt have a f***ing broken neck. Hopefully its something mild. But if it's a concussion, which is likely, he will probably be gone for at least a week, and be shit when he does come back like most are.
Wont be his first either. At least he wasn't given a collar and being carried with strechers. But concussions are not good either.
