Well, a lot was made of the goaltending before the game, but 33 saves (including some clutch ones at the end) for Ward at the end of the night. Not too shabby.

BBA is bad luck at this tanking stuff.
The question is can you replace him in a trade? I seriously doubt we'd get much for him. He's got 12 goals now in 56 games. While that's not great, it could be 20 goals over an entire season. At this point can we look a gift horse in the mouth?
still think there is more to the lack situation that we dont know about
I will GLADLY let someone else start the next GDT if it helps the cause.
Edit: Ok, **** it. I'm not willing to. right now we pick 12th...so what's the difference?

he has 11 goals actually. and those 11 goals come with an unsustainable 16.9sh% and gobs and gobs of powerplay time and favorable zone starts. and it's not like he's putting up tons of assists--he has 12. he could theoretically have 20 goals if he were to have a bunch of shooting luck, but he could just as easily have 7 goals over an entire season. i'm pretty sure we had this exact same discussion about chris terry. The question is can you replace him in a trade? As long as it's budget friendly, which knowing Ron Francis it would be.
As much as I like Derek Ryan, and we've all joked about the "unsustainable" stuff, he's a playmaker on a team with almost no finishers. You got the bun, the pickle, the ketchup and the cheese, but without the meat it's still not a burger.

there's no reason whatsoever to re-sign him to anything except a two-way deal. i absolutely don't want a guarantee that he's on the roster, which is what a one-way deal on this team does. he had a couple good hot stretches but since then has been a complete ghost on most nights. 5 points in his last 27 games. he's small, slow, and incredibly weak. at least chris terry was strong for his size. ryan gets pushed off the puck by a swift breeze. he makes TT look like a power forward.
he's a good AHL player, nothing more. has some nice hands/vision but not much else.
ryan's a UFA.On the flip side without the bread and condiments, the meat is just a boring low carb meal.
Seriously though, what would you expect to get from Derek Ryan sans a package deal? A 3rd rounder? How does that help us? It probably doesn't. A playmaker with the upside of 20 goals who would probably sign a dirt cheap contract might though.
So we were all playing Checkers while Peters was playing ****ing Go or something. ****, I dunno. I'm drunk.
