Anyone who says that Callahan has the skills of a third liner will be going on my ignore list from now on. What a Pejorative Slured thing to say about him. In what universe is he a third line quality player? Did we suddenly get invaded by a few hundred Malkins, pushing Callahan to the third line?

Since he made the NHL as a regular in 2008-09, he's averaged over 26 goals per 82 games. I want to see a third liner that can do this consistently for 5 seasons, only improving his scoring every year. That's right, he's scored more per game every consecutive season.

He has a terrific shot, a goal scorer's shot. He has the moves when those are needed to score. He does everything else great. If he's a third liner, I want to run 4 third lines every game.

Callahan is a very good player and a terrific captain.

Callahan, like most of the team, started the season off slow.

He's been phenomenal once he shook off the rust.

He does everything. Elite PKing, good secondary scoring, physical play....

So happy he's the NYR captain. Love him.

If Callahan was a "third liner" this would be by far the most talented era in NHL history.

There isn't much to say about Cally that I haven't already said.

I had to watch the game while at work, and at first I thought his second goal was Nash, until I realized I was looking at a righty. That alone says how good he's been.

Also, 3 for 3 on shootouts. When did that happen?

Top 10 captain in the NHL, intangibles, accurate, hard shot, and balls the size of a building.

Huge fan of the guy, hope to see him rack up a couple 30+ goal seasons to silence the haters around these parts. The guy is 5'10" and should be just as much of an inspiration to undersized kids growing up playing hockey as Martin St.Louis.

Cally is a class act, and a phenomal guy to have on any team's top 6.He would be in the top 6, even in Pittsburgh.

He might be the most underrated offensive player in the game. His offensive skill is constantly overlooked by his defensive skill and his ridiculous effort that he puts in every night. We are really spoiled by his excellent play night in and night out. The Steven McDonald Award should be his every single year.

last year he fell off at the end of the season and did the same thing at the beginning of this season, he's gotta be 100% 100% of the time because when he isn't performing, he's holding the entire team back. the team feeds off of him

Flyer killer, been with us since day one. My co favorite player on the team alongside Henrik. Hopefully he stays with us a long tme and doesn't turn into a drury in 6 years.

He's got way more skill than he gets credit for...Easily one of the best captains in this league.

I agree 100%, a complete, hard nosed, fearless player with no quit, who leads this team by example on the ice, we are lucky to have him as our Captain...:handclap::cheers:

Who was it that was saying that Dubsinsky won more games for this team than Cally and that Cally isnt really captain material??

LOL

Talk about eating crow. Hes choking on 4 or 5 of them that are stuffed in his gob.

That 2nd goal was gorgeous.

hell yeah!!!! The fact that he isnt a crosby or ovechkin type player is why i love him. Pure heart and hardwork. 100% Bad ass and i would love to run 4 lines of captain cally

The team is slowly starting to gel and a big chunk of the reason why is due to Callahan and his performance since the Winnipeg game. His presence is something that cant be measured. Hes inspired Nash and the middle of the lineup (which was a black hole until recently) to be as good as they can be. If his play resonates with Gaborik and Richards, this team could really be back to the Cup contenders we thought they'd be.

Oh Captain, My Captain!

Does anyone remember the Rally For Cally against the Capitals in 2010-11? I was actually really proud of the team that year. The lineup they were sending out there against the #1-seeded Caps was far from impressive. To refresh...

Vinny Prospal - Artem Anisimov - Marian Gaborik
Brandon Dubinsky - Derek Stepan - Ruslan Fedotenko
Wojtek Wolski - Brian Boyle - Brandon Prust
Mats Zuccarello - Erik Christensen - Chris Drury (C)

Marc Staal (A) - Dan Girardi
Ryan McDonagh - Michael Sauer
Bryan McCabe - Matt Gilroy

:amazed:... yeesh. That leaves a good bit to be desired. Still, I think if Cally is in that series goes to 6 or 7. No way does he allow Game 4 to happen.
