Love this choice. Man works hard every shift, and will go to battle for every teammate against anyone in the NHL.
I think the ship sailed on 55 quite a while ago... at this point it's just a matter of waiting for the right deal to come along. The unintended result of this is that we'll most likely be witnessing the last days of Mark Scheifele in a Jets uniform. After years of him being (unofficially) groomed to be Wheeler's successor as captain, and for him to now be passed over, well, given Mark's ego, I just don't see Mark accepting this. Sure, publicly, he'll say all the right things & support the decision, but privately, his "me first" attitude won't accept this well. I hope I'm wrong. Just my $0.02 worth.
Yeah, just like both previous C's...It pretty much guarantees him a contract for life with the Jets.
Weird but I guess they know who the leader is
I'm concerned about what this means for Scheifele's future though
Hopefully it wasn't just a one season blip and he maintains it. That 40 game stretch he went MIA in was a little disconcerting. He had a career high in points last year and I would wager he will get another career high this year with better wingers.
Good choice IMO. One of the few players on this team that always plays every shift. You can fault the skills, but you can't fault the heart.
