Post-Game Talk: Caps

Apparently the last 5 months don't mean much right?
First of all - not 5 months (the Rangers have one of the best records in the whole NHL in the last 2 months), more like 1.5 month. We also know what transpired to cause it which hopefully has been addressed - and again the last two month is evidence that it's been.

Now I am also not trying to paint a picture that we're contenders but wholistic view on this team to me indicates that the Rangers could be at least competitive.

Do you have respect for any player that has been on this team for over 1 year. Man you’re brutal. LOL

Hate me or love me, you're listening

it all comes from Coach Brainiac over there, every time they show him he's bitching and moaning about something

I like how he wears ridiculously tight shirts and is always adjusting his shirt because its too tight. We'll def beat the Caps if we wind up playing them.

Gretzky's insane goal record being the “most breakable” of his records is hilarious in and of itself.

His assists and points records are in the Cy Young tier of records in that the game would have to have some fundamental change to ever be threatened.

They’d have to replace the puck with a marble.

If Wayne didn't hurt his back it may have been unbreakable. He was still a good player but the goal scoring was never the same.

Will more records be broke with goalies being pulled so early nowadays?

Here's the best part about it.

Michael Jordan is an all-time superstar with an all-time ego who would refer to himself as "Jesus" when trash talking.

Babe Ruth was a global megastar who went through women and beers like he went through pitchers.

Muhammad Ali talked so much shit that he invented the modern pro wrestling promo in a real sport.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a billionaire with a private island and Superman's abs.

Wayne Gretzky looks like he needed to take a nap in between periods.

We're rapping again.

Babe Ruth and women? I don't know. I look at pics of Babe Ruth and the last thing I think of is sex. (I'm a woman.)

Anyway, about the game last night; I'm not mad. We got a point and played pretty well. They at least showed up and gave it their best. I still think this team is much improved from two weeks ago or however long it's been since JT came back. I think he was the pivotal point, putting aside the one awful loss to Buffalo.

You're right, let's go for it!
Buy buy buy

What's the record against playoff teams?

Do you think that strength of schedule might have something to do with what you trying to reference?

First 5 and last 20 were yuck but the middle was good (no-one cares about OT).
You can see that we are short a top D-man and a top-6 forward against the better teams.
I know they got the 1st goal, and Panarin was at least trying a few things, but Laf-Tro-Panarin is basically useless right now

It’s trochecks fault more than anything he’s been awful. He’s been awful on the powerplay too

Would like to see that video-still 2 seconds later when Zib had a 1/2 step on Strome…
Here you go

^^^Way too far out to shoot so holds on to the puck

1741289551077.png

^^^Stick in shooting lane can't shoot

1741289607377.png

^^^Makes a move to get wide from Strome, would be a weak shot if he let it go rn

1741289661422.png

^^^Now would have been the moment to get the shot off, however he would have been at even worse angle than shown. Lindgren is also pretty far out challenging, so maybe short side or under the armpit had room, but would very little to shoot at. Passing is likely the right play- and even though the D is tight on Miller, Miller is facing the net and the D is not, meaning it would be tough for the D to get their stick in place to block the pass/shot from Miller.

^^^ It's a nice hard pass right to the tape past the defender's skate, the only negative really was the D was impeding Miller's view and he whiffed on the puck because of it.

Bossy is a very "boomer" take. People who don't want to say Gretzky because it's an easy answer but want to reminisce about the 80s.

I'm not a boomer. I watched them both play. A lot. Gretzky is the best player I ever saw. But I vividly remember him scoring 92 goals while Edm spent 2/3 of its season dunking on complete shit teams in a conference with one other team with a winning record. Edmonton almost had an annual bye to the Finals. Seriously, do these two conferences look remotely similar?

It's not a boomer or age thing. I am a huge Gretzky fan. He was the best player I ever saw, signed an autograph for me through Dave Taylor back in the day when he wasn't signing much, and was my most profitable ever hockey card sale. I likewise absolutely f***ing hate Pittsburgh. But I still thought Lemieux's 85-goal season was stronger than Gretzky's 92-goal season simply because Mario did it against stronger competition.

That's my personal opinion having watched all these guys play a ton of times. Others are free to disagree.

Crazy is not the game losing goal to me, but Wilson shoving Zibby down post whistle, was such a foreshadowing moment. Wilson scored in OT off of a Zibby whiff. As soon as that happened and no response with Tro just gliding around looking back doing nothing...I knew we lost the game there and then. Anyone else catch that? Lindgren made a easy glove save Miller tried deflecting I believe and Wilson just overpowered Zibby and threw him down on the ice. No response.
