Watching the post game pressers with Carbleberry, you can tell he's done everything he can with this group.

As for the Cans, their play style all season mimics what is necessary in the playoffs. They've been playing this style for years; the caps have been playing it for a month. So there is a lesson to be learned there.

As for everyone here:

I think we have to face the fact that we, yes we, are the ones to blame. Y'all / Yinz have not posted enough, haven't bitched enough, have bitched too much, have used AI images in perverse ways, haven't posted enough memes or gifs, and no one, absolutely no one has posted a likeness or image depicting a hurricane blowing the Washington monument.

I am disappointed.

As frustrating it is to watch them get kind of dunked on, even if they go down in 5 I think this was a very successful season. It’s easy to see a one seed lose and say it’s a disappointment, but compare how this season went to how it was expected to go. Players took steps forward, new players meshed well, we have someone who looks like a top tier goalie locked up, we finally won a series again, and our prospect pool looks jacked. That’s ignoring even the highs of the record chase. All in all I think it’s been a great year.
Agreed but I hope they walk away from this experience with the realization that they can’t put the offense on Ovi moving forward.

Im sorry but if a season like this one is not one where you “go for it” then i really do not know what needs to happen for a team to justify spending. Im also not buying that only trades available were for our top prospects. Im sure teams asked but not like caps do not have picks to bargain with. They were frugal and overconfident at the same time. I think that was a mistake. They could have used some more firepower right about now.
Caps weren't even supposed to win the Metro, plus most believed they would be another Wild Card team or miss the playoffs! What BMac/GMCP, and Carbery did, with the roster was phenomenal. They made their big trade moves in the offseason. Caps don't sacrifice their future like the Pens do, to go for winning Cups! I liked the trade for Beauvillier, but was wanting them to get a guy who could win faceoffs as well. Another d-man at the deadline would have helped, but that was a bit of hindsight that we lost Fever late in the season. The Caps kind of in a situation where they really need to continue replenishing their prospect pool, and not deplete it. Speed/putting in an intended 60 min effort, have been issues for the Caps against the Canes. I think some guys coming up from Hershey for next season, will address those needs.

We also now know, that the coaching philosophy has to change a bit with generating more shots on goal. Basically Quantity over Quality. In the playoffs, where goal scoring becomes more of a challenge, you have to put more shots on net and not be so selective of when to shoot the puck.

Honestly I think this season is a good learning experience for the team and I believe it will serve as a transition towards the future. I see next year being the Ovechkin farewell tour, and for the pivot towards the future being put in place. Hopefully some young guys step up next year like others have this year. I think with his time this year and a full NHL camp and preseason under his belt Leonard will be very good next year, and I still have high hopes for players like Miro and Lappy being impact NHL players. Not to mention the future potential of players like Cristall and Hutson and baby Protas

Well that'll pretty much do it for the season. Slim to no chance we win three in a row against this team. Been a fun year but what a total fall on your face failure the payoff were. Whatever this coaching staff was doing got figured out about 3/4 of the way into the season and we haven't been able to score since.

Could be, but one obstacle the Caps can exorcise is being down 3-1. I mean they blown so many 3-1 leads they're due to come back!

Frederik Andersen has 100 SV% through the first 4 games on high-danger shots by the Capitals. 24 of 24 saved. It's a mark of a goaltender in great form. That said, it's also a mark of some really bad shooting.

Those numbers are all-situations too. That's just saves, Caps have had far more high-danger chances (47) so pretty much half have just went to waste without a shot on goal at all.

How about some traffic to get him off his game?

It crucial EDIT:Tomorrow, that we skate with the puck and pass it with a plan in mind. Chip and chase (or not chasing in many cases) with our two D men hanging out at the red line against these guys is mind numbing, it’s on guys like Strome,PLD, and McMichael to actually take the puck and bring into the zone. Can’t just be a one touch pass. Speaking of our D, they can’t continue to take liberties with their shots from the point. They have to be taken quicker, and with intent on getting it to the net. Taking the puck, faking it, thinking about it, and then throwing it 3 feet wide for a board play or one of those wild tips is not for an elimination game. Also someone please run Freddy Anderson and make it look accidental thank you.

I was a 100% certain when we were down 3-2 to Tampa in 2018 that we were done. We were getting owned 3 games in a row and was looking bad.

Then Holtby played lights out and the team followed and we ended up going to the Cup.

Things can happen
The Caps in game 6 and 7 were the best games I've ever seen the Caps play. Good times.

We are getting eaten alive with Eller. Sitting Eller should have happened sooner.

Name the Movie Last Hint for the greenhorns. The one and only, THE original.

I love the optimism of some posters, and I know the game isn't over until it's truly over.

If this team manages to come back and win, I’ll go outside, spend the next few weeks patiently befriending a crow, and then eat it with a smile.

Coincidentally, I have a crow I befriended. Took a month. Now we chill on the balcony eating blueberries and dried cranberries. His name is Harold and he's smarter than most. Don't touch Harold or his friends.

Thanks.
