we saw this last year but it's become something almost undeniable by now: this guy knows which buttons to push and how to push them at a frequency I haven't really haven't seen in the modern era.

I have never felt more confident as a Caps fan to say "okay that was a rough period but I bet he's about to get them to show up after the intermission" than right now and it just keeps happening.

He absolutely deserves consideration for the Selke, but we all know it's primarily a reputation award, and that PLD doesn't have much of a positive rep. Hopefully if he can sustain the same type of impact and play next season more people outside of DC will start coming around on his overall offensive AND defensive play.

The Kings are concerning. They're on a tear. But they won't matter unless we both make it to the finals, so that's a pretty high-class problem.
