So this is going to sound like an insane comparison, and it's obviously only a stylistic comparison because I don't think Leonard will be quite that good, but the way Leonard moves on the ice resembles the way MacKinnon moves on the ice. They're about the same size, too.

Where do the caps sit in latest prospect rankings? I think i count as many as 5 players that can be caps or bears next season. We’ll still have some vets but Hershey should finally start getting younger next year.

Didn't catch the 3rd period for the BC game. Was hoping they would eventually respond from that terrible 2nd period. Last years team was just a lot better than this year. The D core especially seems not as good.
I'm not sure about that. Through 10 games, this BC team has a better record than the team from last year while scoring more goals and allowing fewer against a more difficult schedule. They also have three shutouts this year compared to none through ten games last year. They're at least at the same level as last year and have as good of a shot at the championship as any team, which is a large part of the reason why Leonard went back.

Ryan Leonard is leading the NCAA in xG* and is 3rd in C/TG (their version of WAR). Chesley is 4th among defensemen in C/TG.

Also, the Boston College PP is not good (42nd out of 64).

*According to them, they have pretty good, but not NHL quality, shot location data.

Incidentally next Friday and Saturday Minnesota plays back to back games at Notre Dame. Based on games played, Nicholas Kempf appears to be regular backup goalie for Notre Dame, so we could potentially see both Chesley and him.

Speaking of NCAA goalies, Chase Clark is on his third school in 3 years. Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, and now American International College.

At this point I am more excited about future of Kempf than Clark. We probably need another high end goalie in system next year or two.

Feel like we had such a great run of goalie scouting/development in the 2010s, don't know what happened

I just don’t think it has been a focus. It’s mostly been at forward and a sprinkle of Dee as well. And then more flyers on goalies. I think we need a top 3 round goalie pick next year or possibly the next (or both).

Dee is also lacking on prospect depth, especially in Hershey. Really just Iorio. Chesley might have a higher ceiling and i hope he goes pro next year. Muggli is interesting too and Hudson but they are both 3-5 years away so a lot to see in their development before they are true NHL prospects. Good news is our core Dee is under 27.

They haven't used a top 100 pick on a goalie since Samsonov in 2015, so they haven't had much starting talent to work with. Total investment in the position since 2015 is two 4ths (one just this year with Kempf), two 6ths, and a 7th, plus a couple UDFA signings. In the goalie factory years they did find Holtby and Grubauer with 4ths, but the rest of their hits were late 1st rounders (Varly, Samsonov) or very early 2nd rounders (Neuvirth, Vanecek).
