Chytil's actually like 20/200 in one eye is the only possible excuse at this point. Even the biggest goons I've ever seen didn't have the puck pinball away from them like this on a consistent basis.

It really sucks, because something like that can really prevent a player from reaching the next level. Hopefully he really practices that.

he does nothing at an above average level at the NHL level. he was probably exactly this good in junior and that was enough to have his numbers there.

you can figure some stuff out with hockey reference if you wanna spend a couple minutes with a calculator. he's really bad though.
 
The NBC “star player” shift odometer is such a worthless feature. Some marketing mind was probably promoted for this crap.
 
Pionk has 2 points in his last 23 games... he should not be used in any manner related to offense

We're forced to play Pionk or Shattenkirk top minutes. Maybe its for the tank.

Just to get a rough idea:

Pionk has been on the ice for 23 PP goals against in 154 minutes.

This isn't perfect, but assuming most of them are two minutes penalties, that makes Pionk about 23 for 77. Of course, when he gives up a goal, it ends, but let's give him the full two minutes.

The Rangers as a team are 46 for 204. 204 - 77 = 127. 46 - 23 = 23.

Pionk on - 70%
Pionk off - 81.8%

Again, that's an estimation, but are we surprised? And as you can see (23, 46) he's been on the ice for half of them, that's a stone cold fact.
