I think with all the new players, Lappy was somewhat overlooked by Cthe coaching staff in the offseason. Like for PLD, for example, there was a lot of thought on putting him in a position to succeed. I don't think Lappy's future got the same level of thought. Similarly, the top 2 lines were put together carefully; the 3rd line was whoever was left over. And the top lines had more time to gel, while the 3rd line was constantly changing, even at training camp.
In an ideal world, you'd like a player to succeed despite all of that. Obviously, this isn't an ideal world. And better and more experienced players have struggled when not in the right spot with the right linemates.
I think with fewer new adds this summer, hopefully he'll be put in a position to succeed. And hopefully, he'll take advantage of that.
